What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 240

Chapter 240 Kidnap

Meanwhile, Sierra was asleep for nearly a whole day before she was woken up by a call from her manager in the afternoon.

Josephine’s manager urged her to the set as the TV series would be ready for release once. Josephine finished filming her part in the show.

Sierra got up from the bed agitatedly and ran her fingers through her disheveled hair. The first thing she did after waking up was to check if Lewis was there.

As expected, she was let down again. Lewis was nowhere to be seen.

Although he frequently spent his nights here, he always left early in the morning, sometimes even in the middle of the night.

He would always leave so quietly. Sierra almost never saw him every time she woke up the next day.

Sierra could only sigh in disappointment. Bleary-eyed, she went to the bathroom to wash up, changed, and started her car.

The film set was located quite far away, requiring a three-hour drive through winding roads nestled amidst mountains. Josephine had to navigate through these narrow paths to reach her destination.

Sierra drove rather monotonously as she listened to the radio while occasional escape her lips.

yawns would

Just as Sierra raised her gaze, a van abruptly veered from the side, careening onto the road and coming to an abrupt stop, effectively blocking her path. Reacting swiftly, Sierra pressed hard on the brake pedal but still crashed into the van.

The impact of the collision triggered the deployment of the airbag. However, Sierra still struck her head forcefully against the steering wheel, causing an intense wave of pain that momentarily obscured her vision. After a brief moment of disorientation, Sierra instinctively reached up and gently rubbed her throbbing forehead. She looked up at the van in rage, convinced they must be the prop crew.

A young man came down the van and walked over to Sierra.

Sierra, too, opened her car door and strode over. She glared at the young man angrily. “Why can’t you drive properly? You could have honked your car!”

The man apologized with a smile. “Sorry, sorry.”

As Sierra prepared to continue her tirade, the man closed the distance between them. Before she could utter another word, she felt something sharp pressed against her waist.

“Don’t move.”

Sierra was taken aback. Eyes wide open, she lowered her head to find a dagger pressed against her waist.

“You…” Sierra stared at the young man with shock. Her voice trembled slightly as she asked, What do you want from me?”

“You’ll find out later. Get in the car.” The man jutted his chin to signal her to get into the car.

Sierra didn’t dare to do anything rash. She moved carefully toward her car. The man opened the door to the backseat and entered too.

The van blocking Sierra’s car began to move away when the dagger was placed against her

neck.

“Start driving.”

“Who are you? Are you kidnapping me? How much do you want?” Sierra’s heart was thumping hard in her chest. The coolness and sharpness of the dagger on her neck made her fear for her

life.

“Shut up. Just drive.”

Not daring to speak further, Sierra had no choice but to start the engine and drive slowly.

She didn’t want to die. But she knew very well that she’d die if she didn’t try to do something

about this.

The heavy rain from the previous night had turned the road into a muddy mess. The dark sky loomed above, casting an ominous atmosphere over the surrounding mountains.

Sierra’s blue Maserati drove further into the road between the mountains until it disappeared

from sight.

When Josephine woke up, the sky had almost turned dark.

She gazed out at the dark, cloudy sky when suddenly, a lightning bolt tore through the thick. clouds, illuminating her bedroom with a brilliant, white light.

Josephine swallowed nervously. She moved her blanket away and got down from the bed. Her eyes fell upon

the sticky note and notebook on her bedside table. Then, she reached for the notebook and began flipping through the pages.

After a while, she closed the notebook and quickly went downstairs. She found the medicine in

the drawer and took it.

But the mansion was empty. Nobody was there.

Mrs. Larson and Mrs. White went grocery shopping, so she was left alone in the house.

Josephine did not want to stay in the house any longer, so she grabbed her phone and umbrella before heading out.

She called for a cab to the Alvarez Corp.

A white car finally arrived after twenty minutes of waiting.

The driver started driving right after she pulled open the door and sat down.

Anxiety consumed Josephine as she absentmindedly picked at her fingers, her gaze fixated on the relentless flashes of lightning outside. Her heart grew heavier with each burst of light, and a sense of unease settled within her.

Not long after they started driving, as expected, heavy raindrops began to fall from the sky, pounding against the car. The outside scenery became a blurry haze, and Josephine could no longer see where the car was headed.

After a while, the car gradually rolled to a stop, and the driver turned to Josephine and said, We’re here, pretty.”

Josephine grabbed her umbrella and alighted. The car drove off so fast that water was splattered all over her body.

But Josephine couldn’t care less. She raised her head to find out that she was standing right in front of the gate of Alvarez Manor.

She had ordered a cab to the Alvarez Corp. Why did the driver bring her here?

When she was about to check her phone to see if she had keyed in the wrong destination, the metal gate of the manor was opened, and two bodyguards came out.

“You’re finally here, madam.”

Bewildered, Josephine merely looked at the two bodyguards.

The bodyguard gestured to her to go inside. “Mrs. Alvarez is waiting for you inside. Please

come in.”

Josephine tightened her grip on the umbrella’s handle. She bit her lip and walked in. After a heavy rain, the weather became stormy.

Within seconds, Josephine found herself overwhelmed by the relentless rain and strong gusts of wind. The raindrops pelted against her umbrella with such force that it threatened to turn inside out.

The raindrops pelted Josephine’s face, driven by the relentless wind. She almost couldn’t open her eyes. Holding her swaying umbrella, she seemed to be on the verge of being blown away along with the umbrella.

Enduring the biting wind, Josephine finally arrived at the entrance hall, guided by the two bodyguards. The coldness only subsided when she entered the manor.
