What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 302

Lewis' voice drifted into Sierra's ears right away.

Every word was akin to a lightning bolt striking her in the same spot. The impact was so strong that she found herself reeling back from the shock and hurt.

She slowly tightened her grip on Lewis' lap, her eyelashes trembling slightly as she choked out her response. "I want 800 billion dollars."

The latter frowned immediately. This time, his tone was laced with a hint of irritation. "What the hell are you trying to do?"

Sierra decided to go all out as well. She glared at the man before her angrily and retorted, "Didn't you tell me to give you a number?"

"Can't we just go our separate ways amicably?"

The woman shook her head with tears shining in her eyes. "No way! Did those seven years of being with me not mean anything to you?"

Lewis was silent at that moment. He ripped his gaze from Sierra's face before turning his head to look out the window.

The sea glittered under the sun from a distance away. Seagulls continued hunting on the surface, yet the scenery still looked bare.

Sierra continued, "You said you don't want to marry me. Fine, I'll take it. I'm willing to be with you without an official title. Why must you treat me like this?"

Lewis pinched the spot between his eyes while closing his eyes tiredly. "I'm tired."

Naturally, that statement sounded awfully ironic to Sierra. "You're tired? Ha! You claimed to be tired, so you wanted to break off this relationship. After that, you tried to get rid of me by throwing a check in my face! Are the things you said to me before all lies?"

Lewis didn't bother to refute her. "If that's what you think, then sure."

The woman felt quite stuffy on the inside. She realized nothing could convince Lewis otherwise once he switched to his heartless mode.

"So, you think the seven years we spent together are nothing but a joke, right?"

The man didn't reply at all.

Nothing could hurt someone more than cold silence.

Silence represented Lewis' determination. It also meant the fact that he would never change his decision.

It wasn't Sierra's first time experiencing his merciless side. However, none of those times could compare to the pain she suffered from this time.

The woman moved to grab Lewis' arm tightly while pleading, "Lewis, can you please not do this to me? If you think I'm annoying, I'll go back to Elysium right now. If you don't want me appearing in front of Josephine, I won't ever show up around her ever again. I'll even avoid her when needed, okay? I'll be more than happy to apologize to her. If that's not enough, I'll even prostrate in front of her …"

Sierra was already sobbing when she said those things.

At this point, she had already sunken to her knees while feeling hot tears trickling down her cheeks. "Lewis—"

The aforementioned man bowed his head to look at Sierra's tear-streaked face silently. Then, he wiped away her tears with his slender fingers.

His action was very gentle, yet his response was capable of freezing her heart from the inside out. "Let's just end our relationship right here, alright?"

How he spoke was no different than how he used to coax her in the past.

If not for the coldness in his eyes, Sierra would have thought Lewis was flirting with her.

She shook her head immediately.

"No! I don't want to do that! We've been together for so many years, Lewis! You've already become a part of my life! I can't live without you! Lewis, I promise I'll listen to you no matter what! I won't talk back to you anymore! I'll even follow all of your orders without questioning you! If you don't want to see me, I'll lock myself up and not go out at all! I won't appear before you if you don't want to see me!"

She looked so pathetic at that moment. What she said had completely reduced her worth, making her as small and insignificant as a speck of dust.

The woman didn't even request to spend time with him anymore. All she wanted was for him not to say those heartless things to her.

All she wanted was a sense of reassurance.

It was just that simple.

"Lewis, please don't break up with me! Please, I'm begging you right now! I don't want anything else!"

The man placed a finger on Sierra's cheek, which slowly slid down to her chin. Then, he tilted her chin upward, purring, "You don't want anything else? Then, what do you want?"

He was still as arrogant as ever. There was no trace of sadness shown on his face despite the fact that he was breaking up with Sierra.

Lewis looked like a distinguished ruler at that moment, seeing as he was currently looking down at Sierra in such a high and mighty manner.

As for the latter, she could only look up at him while kneeling on the ground.

"I only want you." Her eyes were already puffy and red, and her vision of the man was blurry due to the tears welling up in her eyes.

The only thing she could see clearly was the cold impassiveness in his eyes.

"You only want me, you say?" Lewis chuckled all of a sudden.

The wound gradually deepened, causing the blood to start flowing in light streams and dripping onto the floor via her knife. There was even a stray stream flowing down her wrist all the way into her sleeve.

At the same time, the strong smell of blood permeated the atmosphere.

However, Sierra didn't seem like she could feel the pain flaring from her wound at all. Instead, she trained her burning gaze on the man in front of her, not wanting to miss out on any expression that might appear on his face.

Unfortunately, he remained emotionless.

Sierra felt he would remain unmoved even if she were to drop dead in front of him right now.

It was then she realized that everything she did was utterly useless once Lewis snapped into his heartless mode. Even her death wouldn't affect him at all.

A weak smile was curled on her lips at that moment.

"Lewis, you're such a brutal man."

Now that she had lost a lot of blood, her eyes started to look unfocused and empty. At the same time, a strong wave of fatigue swept over her.

Sierra thought that she was doomed.

Then again, death wasn't as scary as she thought.

The next thing she knew, Lewis gripped her by the wrist and pulled her to her feet. As a result, she loosened her grip on the knife, causing it to fall to the ground with a loud clatter.

Sierra could only look up at Lewis weakly.

The latter grabbed the tie he had left on the couch before firmly wrapping it around her wrist.

One of his hands pressed onto her wound while the other moved to caress her cheek.

"Sierra, I love your idiotic resolve the most."

The man's voice sounded flat, not to mention he seemed a little distracted as well. That was the tone he adopted when he stated that he was going to break up with her.

Sierra's eyes glinted under the light. She failed to understand what Lewis meant due to the massive blood loss.

Still, she desperately fought against the intense dizziness because she wanted to know his answer.

"Then … please don't abandon me, okay?"
