What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 355

Kiran's expression turned momentarily sour when he heard Lewis' words, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Of course. To receive such care from Master Robert and Chairman Alvarez, I'll dedicate myself wholeheartedly to the Alvarez family."

After reading the room, Phineas quickly fetched a chair and placed it behind Lewis.

The man leisurely sat down and glanced at the bandages wrapped around Kiran's body.

"President Kiran, what happened to you? Your injuries look serious. Did you get bitten by something?"

Kiran played dumb. "It might have been a water snake. It was too dark, and I couldn't see clearly."

"You survived even though you couldn't see clearly. You must have a lucky star shining upon you."

"I hope so."

The two engaged in casual small talk as if nothing had happened. Robert stood by awkwardly for no apparent reason.

Kiran didn't expect Lewis to show up directly. He must look like a piece of meat lying on a chopping board to Lewis.

He had tried everything to harm Lewis, yet he became the laughingstock now.

Being embarrassed was one thing, but he feared Lewis would take advantage of his current situation and secretly plan something.

Moreover, there was no progress regarding the tracker Sierra had placed on him. Most likely, Lewis had discovered it.

Suddenly, Robert said, "Lewis, since you're here to visit President Kiran, I'll take my leave."

Lewis nodded slightly. "Goodbye, father."

Robert smiled and turned to leave. However, his face fell as soon as he stepped out of the ward.

He glanced at the bodyguard standing at the door, who had his head lowered and dared not speak.

"Come with me," Robert said, his tone stern.

Helpless, the bodyguard followed Robert to a corner of the staircase.

Robert looked at the bodyguard with a solemn expression. "What did I tell you?"

The bodyguard hesitated, struggling to find the right words. "But ... Chairman Alvarez ..."

"What about him? Are you going to listen to him or listen to me? It seems that what I say no longer holds any weight!" Robert sneered. "I don't even know why you're so eager to switch sides."

The bodyguard couldn't find a way to respond. They were clearly a family, but why did it feel like they were enemies?

He thought it would be better for Robert to get along with Lewis.

"Aren't you and Chairman Alvarez a family?" the bodyguard asked.

Robert pointed at him, his face flushed with anger, but he couldn't come up with a coherent response.

In the end, he could only storm off in frustration.

Quintin took Josephine to a cafe since most restaurants were closed at that hour. They could only have some afternoon tea.

He ordered a glass of Coke for Josephine with pizza and fried chicken wings. He knew she enjoyed those.

Josephine held the Coke in one hand and wore a disposable glove on the other as she stuffed the chicken wings into her mouth.

"Slow down. No one is going to snatch the food away from you," Quintin said, picking up a tissue to wipe her mouth.

Josephine glanced at him while eating. She puffed her cheeks and smiled at him.

She had already regarded him as her benefactor. As long as Quintin could bring her delicious food, she wanted to stay by his side.

That was her current mindset.

She still felt hungry, even after finishing one serving. So Quintin called the waiter to bring another serving.

Quintin propped his chin on his hand and absent-mindedly watched her eat.

She seemed genuinely famished.

Quintin didn't know that Josephine hadn't been able to eat properly for quite some time before this because she was always burdened by worries. She had no appetite no matter what she tried to eat.

Yet things were different now. After Josephine lost her memories, she didn't have to worry about anything. Of course, her appetite would increase.

She ate a lot, finishing both servings of food and drinking all the Coke. She cradled her stomach, feeling satisfied. She smiled sheepishly at Quintin.

Quintin couldn't help but laugh at her demeanor and called the waiter over to pay the bill.
