What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 358

A sudden flash of lightning ripped the sky, and Josephine immediately crouched down in fright. She wanted to cover her ears, but her hands were still in his grip. She looked up, but she couldn't open her eyes under the falling rain. The sky was too dark, and she could only make out that he was dressed in full black. He looked like a part of the night sky. She couldn't see his face clearly.

Phineas immediately grabbed an umbrella and used it to shield them both from the rain. The umbrella blocked out the heavy rain, but Josephine was so cold that she was shivering. Although they were completely drenched, Josephine looked a lot more miserable than Lewis. After only God knew how long had passed, Lewis grabbed her by her wrists and pulled her up from the ground. "Get into the car."

Josephine shook her head fiercely and started struggling again. She wanted to go back and look for Quintin, who was still lying on the ground. Lewis didn't give her a chance to resist. He secured her wrists with one hand and grabbed the back of her neck with the other, then pushed her into the car. She stood no chance against him. He flung her onto the seat, and by the time she sat up, he had already slammed the door.

Phineas immediately got into the driver's seat and started the car. She tried to open the door, but the doors were already locked. It wouldn't budge no matter how hard she pushed against it. Just as the car started moving, she saw Quintin rushing out of the building toward her frantically. She smacked the window and fixed her gaze on him anxiously.

Meanwhile, Lewis turned slightly and watched her hit the window with all her might. She looked miserable and weak with her thin frame, just like a cat trapped in a cage trying wildly to escape. Phineas dared not waste another minute and stepped on the gas. Josephine kept hitting the window while tears streamed down her face, mixing with the rainwater. She moved around in the car wildly, trying to find a way out, but in the end, she could only watch as she moved farther away from Quintin. He disappeared from sight, obscured by the heavy rain.

Quintin ran on for a long time, but he couldn't catch up with the Bentley. He watched the car disappear from sight while clutching his stomach, a pained expression on his face. He could no longer persist and fell to the ground with a thud, sending up a splash of water.

In the car, Josephine gradually quieted down. She gave up her struggle, knowing that she couldn't get out. Forty minutes later, the car stopped in the courtyard of Styx Mansion. "Get out," said Lewis. He got out of the car and walked around to Josephine's side to open the door, but she refused to get out. He reached out and grabbed her arm, then dragged her out of the car.

The way he treated her roughly made her hate him with all her guts at that moment. Alas, she wasn't as strong as him and couldn't fight back while he was dragging her. She had no choice but to stumble along behind him right till they reached the bathroom.

He finally let go of her. Once she was free, she instantly ran into a corner and stood with her back tight against the wall, staring at him warily. Lewis ignored the look she was giving him and turned around to say to Mrs. Larson, "Bring me a set of pajamas." Mrs. Larson nodded and fetched him a set of Josephine's pajamas. Lewis took it and put it on the table, then locked the bathroom door.

In the small bathroom, his intimidating air made Josephine feel even more frightened. Lewis took off his heavy soaked coat and tossed it aside. He undid the cuff of his sleeves and took off his watch, then walked toward her. Seeing his icy expression, Josephine trembled, but she wasn't sure if it was from the cold or the fear.

A look of fear came into Josephine's eyes when she heard what Mrs. Larson said. Mrs. Larson continued softly, "Come here, I'll help you get changed. I won't hurt you." She had a very kind and warm appearance that could make people let their walls down. Added with her words, Josephine slowly let her walls down and nodded slightly.

Mrs. Larson let out a subtle sigh of relief and tried her best to put a kinder-looking smile on her face. She helped Josephine up and took off her clothes, then washed her down with the shower head. Josephine did not resist at all and let Mrs. Larson bathe her. Lewis, who was standing outside, finally went upstairs when he heard the sound of running water.

Dr. Halliday checked Lewis' wounds and couldn't help but click his tongue after that. "Mr. Alvarez, you just got out of surgery a few days ago. You should try your best not to exert yourself and rest in bed so that you can recover faster."

Lewis was sitting on the chair in the bedroom and looking out of the window at the rainy night. He said nothing. When he kept quiet, Dr. Halliday continued nagging, "Your wounds are turning white because you've been in the rain. It'll be troublesome if they become infected." The wounds on his front and back had turned white from the rainwater, especially the wound on his back. Although it had been stitched up, Dr. Halliday had no idea what Lewis had done to make it reopen. Blood was flowing non-stop, and the wound was a very scary sight.
