The guests gradually dispersed. Some helped Nancy out as they were leaving.
Minutes later, only four people remained in front of the tombstone.
Among them were Lewis and Conrad, accompanied by Seth and Kiran.
They stood in silence, none of them uttering a word. Nobody knew whether they were cherishing the memory of the deceased or lost in their own thoughts.
Suddenly, Seth broke the silence. "It's hard to believe how abruptly Father's glorious life came to an end."
No one responded to his remark, so he continued, "I heard he left behind nearly two hundred billion in assets. Chairman Alvarez, is the allocation proportion released yet?"
Lewis finally glanced at him and asked, "Do you want a share?"
Seth chuckled. "Considering that I am also part of the Alvarez family, I should get a share. People will find it strange if I don't show any interest, don't you think so?"
Lewis replied, "Daphne is in jail, not dead. She is entitled to get a share, not you. As for how you divide the money among yourselves, that's your own business."
Seth didn't show much reaction to that statement. The curve of his lips remained unchanged. He said, "That's fine with me. Since Daphne is in prison, I just wanted to secure her rights as her husband."
Lewis let out an ambiguous laugh.
Seth glanced at Kiran and teased, "President Kiran, why are you still here? You still haven't recovered from your injuries, yet you insisted on coming to see Father off. As expected of Father's favorite person."
"I believe he would be deeply touched."
Kiran gave him a sidelong glance and remained silent as he held his umbrella. He then turned to leave the cemetery.
Seth seemed somewhat surprised. "I thought he would be vying for the inheritance."
"He doesn't lack money." Lewis' gaze landed on Seth's face. "Do you need money?"
"Of course I do. Who wouldn't want more money? You don't lack money, either. Would you be willing to give up your share of the inheritance for me?"
Lewis responded, "I can do that, but whether you can secure it is another matter."
His words seemed to have an underlying meaning, but it was unclear whether he was referring to the money or something else. Seth raised an eyebrow and smiled. "Do you want to put that to the test?"
Lewis didn't bother to respond and turned to leave the cemetery.
Seth watched him depart in his car and turned back to look at the tombstone.
Moments ago, the place was bustling, yet now it felt desolate.
He gazed at the photo on the tombstone for a while before averting his gaze and leaving the cemetery.
Seth entered a Mercedes outside and closed the door before brushing off the water droplets on his black coat.
Sitting in the driver's seat, Sophia stared at him briefly before speaking, "I feel like Lewis is investigating me. Doesn't he already know about our relationship? Why is he still investigating me?"
Seth calmly fastened his seatbelt and replied, "Do you have a sister?"
Sophia was stunned. "Why are you asking this question too?"
"Seems like he asked you the same question. So, do you have one?"
Sophia retorted, "I don't. You should have known that better."
"I mean, haven't your parents ever mentioned it?"
"No, they never did. My mom said she suffered severe bleeding when giving birth to me, and we nearly died. After that, she didn't dare to have any more children."
Seth frowned. "Is that so?"
Sophia responded, "What do you expect? What are you guys up to?"
Seth said, "You and Sierra might be sisters. Don't tell me you're clueless."
Listening to his words, Sophia burst into laughter as if she had just heard the funniest joke. "That's impossible! My parents have never mentioned anything like that. If I really had a sister, they wouldn't have kept silent about it for so many years."
"That's the thing. Something is off." Seth leaned against the car window and looked at Sophia with a half-smile. "But I suggest you find a way to have your parents and Sierra undergo a paternity test, just to be sure."
"Forget it. Sierra can't be my sister, and I don't have any sisters."
Sophia wasn't fond of Sierra. There was even a time when she detested her. Even if Sierra turned out to be her biological sister, Sophia wouldn't welcome her into the family.
Feeling joyful, she believed she was about to find her way back home.
Josephine turned back and tugged at Lewis' sleeve, saying, "There it is!"
Lewis turned his head to look at her and asked, "You want to go to the mall?"
She nodded eagerly, like a bird pecking at seeds.
Lewis made a U-turn in front and drove toward the mall's parking lot. After parking the car, he led Josephine out.
Right after Josephine exited the car, she sprinted towards the mall, attracting curious glances from other people.
She was wearing a hospital gown inside and had a long white down jacket on the outside with half of her leg exposed. One would know at first glance that she had just come out from the hospital.
Lewis hurriedly followed behind and called out, "Slow down!"
Ignoring his words, Josephine ran as fast as she could. Looking at the familiar mall, she thought she could find her parents there.
Her mother used to bring her to this mall often and bought her many beautiful clothes.
While running, Josephine tried to track familiar faces in the crowd, hoping to find someone she knew.
However, she didn't spot anyone she recognized after exploring one floor.
She continued to rush towards the second floor.
As she was about to step onto the escalator, another person rushed out from the other side, and they collided dramatically at the escalator's mouth.
Josephine bumped into the person's chest. Her vision darkened, and she ended up sitting on the floor.
The intense pain made her nose tingle, and tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes. She sat on the ground, crying.
The person she collided with took a couple of steps back, and upon hearing her crying, they focused their gaze on Josephine and immediately exclaimed in delight.
"Josephine!"
