"You!" Zach's face flushed red with anger as he glared at Lewis.
Lewis ignored him. He carried Josephine and walked past him into the house.
He brought Josephine back to the bedroom upstairs. Then, he gently placed her on the bed and left.
Suddenly, Josephine tugged at the corner of his clothes. He turned around and looked at her.
With tearful eyes, Josephine whispered, "Where are you going?"
Lewis moved her hand away from him and sat beside her.
"I have something to attend to. I'll be back soon."
Josephine felt reluctant and pouted. He always took a long time to return whenever he left.
He had promised to take her home, but he was always away.
Lewis stayed with her for a while. Then, he let go of her hand and stood up to leave.
Josephine clenched the bedsheet tightly while watching him leave.
Lewis and the others entered the conference room on the top floor of Alvarez Corp. There were already quite a few people inside.
Apart from Kiran and Seth, Milo was present too.
Lewis' gaze lingered on Milo's face for a while. Milo felt somewhat guilty and avoided Lewis' eyes.
Lewis took a seat and said calmly, "Go ahead. Any progress this time?"
Zach followed suit and sat down. "Mr. Waverly, please go over it again."
Milo thought for a moment. Then, he opened the folder of documents on the table.
"This is Mr. Robert's latest will. He instructed both me and Mr. Acre to follow this will."
Lewis listened silently.
Milo continued, "The notarized will wasn't revoked for certain reasons. But Robert did express his preference for this will."
Zach continued asking, "So, is the notarized will authentic?"
Milo replied, "We examined the notarized will and learned it had been tampered with. Since Mr. Acre has passed away, we couldn't determine the exact circumstances."
Zach added, "According to the letter of accusation left by Mr. Acre, the notarized will was modified a month before Robert's passing on January 18th."
Lewis remained silent throughout.
Zach turned his head and looked at him. He asked, "Mr. Alvarez, do you have anything to say about this?"
Lewis picked up the will from the table and casually flipped through it. "What do you expect me to say?"
"A month before his death. It sounds like you're saying I knew about his passing beforehand and altered the will because of it."
Zach responded, "But you were indeed in contact with Layla. Also, according to her testimony, you are suspected of inciting her in your conversation."
Lewis chuckled. "That's a groundless assumption. Considering how Layla burned down Alvarez Manor, her testimony holds no credibility. Moreover, how can you prove this non-notarized will is genuine?"
Milo said, "I saw Mr. Robert drafting the will. How could it be fake?"
"Is that so?" Lewis gave him a meaningful look.
Seeing Lewis' calm demeanor, Kiran frowned. He couldn't help but feel that Lewis was too composed.
He wondered if Lewis was acting or had a backup plan.
Milo insisted, "Of course, it's genuine! All the evidence points to you. You're the prime suspect."
Lewis didn't bother arguing with him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a USB drive. "Conrad, bring the laptop here."
Conrad nodded. He quickly fetched the laptop from the nearby table.
He took the USB drive from Lewis and plugged it into the laptop.
Moments later, a familiar voice echoed in the quiet conference room.
