What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 446

The setting sun was a bit dazzling. Holding onto Seth's neck, Josephine softly called out from his back.

"Alex."

Seth's steps faltered slightly. He fell silent for a few seconds, then finally responded with a soft hum.

A smile appeared on Josephine's face.

He had finally acknowledged it.

She hugged him tighter and murmured, "I'm sorry."

"For what?"

"I lost my memories and made you bear all the pain alone. Can you forgive me?"

After calming down, Josephine could now string together complete sentences. However, her voice was still weak, making her words less distinct.

She still remembered the time when he kidnapped her. He must have been furious and disappointed.

Her parents would have been even more disappointed.

Josephine couldn't fathom what he had endured and how he had managed to get through these years.

Seth's gaze flickered. He looked ahead at the setting sun and remained silent.

Carrying her on his back, he continued walking along the dirt road.

Josephine was getting a bit tired. She rested her face against Seth's shoulder and slowly closed her eyelids.

Just before slipping into sleep, Josephine faintly heard Seth's voice.

"Don't you hate me?"

He took her to the Alvarez Manor and made her get an abortion.

He was so angry back then that he even thought of choking her to death. How could she dare to get pregnant with Lewis' child?

Unfortunately, the person on his back didn't respond.

Just before reaching the road's end, several black cars came speeding toward them and blocked their path.

Conrad and his men stepped out of the cars. He looked at Josephine on Seth's back with furrowed brows.

"Mr. Fairchild, Chairman Alvarez sent me to pick you both up."

Seth chuckled. Once again, he flashed his signature smile at Conrad.

"It seems like you're preparing to get tough if we don't follow you back."

Conrad advised, "Mr. Fairchild, you should know Chairman Alvarez's temperament. You won't be able to leave if he doesn't want you to do so."

"So, let's save the trouble."

Seth pondered momentarily, then smiled. "I appreciate your help, Conrad."

He wasn't a fool. Outnumbered and surrounded, he wouldn't engage in a direct confrontation with Conrad.

Even if they were to leave, they needed to plan everything carefully before taking action. At the very least, they had to ensure that Josephine would remain untraceable by Lewis for the rest of his life.

That would be the true definition of leaving.

He placed Josephine inside the car before getting in. Then, they headed back with Conrad.

However, he couldn't enter the gates of the Styx Mansion as the guards stopped him outside.

Seth didn't mind. He watched as Conrad carried Josephine inside before turning to leave.

Dr. Halliday examined Josephine's condition and turned to Lewis. "Mr. Alvarez, she has some minor external injuries but nothing serious. She's just physically weak and needs proper care."

Lewis sat in his usual spot, his gaze as cold and indifferent as ever as he looked at Dr. Halliday.

"Now that she has regained her memories, will she keep falling into slumber like before?"

After some consideration, Dr. Halliday shook his head and replied, "I can't be entirely sure about that. We'll have to observe her progress.

"In fact, it's quite strange. The fact that Mrs. Alvarez could regain her memories indicates that she might not have had true Alzheimer's disease. It's more likely a pseudo-amnesia caused by brain trauma and excessive stimulation. It is also known as pseudodementia."

Dr. Halliday had conducted extensive research on this topic during this period, which led him to arrive at this conclusion. "This pseudodementia does resemble Alzheimer's disease at its severe stages. I had been suspecting this for quite some time.

"Mrs. Alvarez's memory had regressed to that of a five-year-old. She shouldn't remember anything or anyone. However, she remembers quite clearly. Her behavior and logical speech are coherent as well. Now we can reasonably conclude that she is experiencing pseudodementia."
