Sierra hadn't looked at her current self in the mirror. She didn't know that bandage covered every inch of her face. Only her eyes and the region near her mouth were exposed, so no one could see her expression.
"What's all this about?" Lewis looked around the room. Everything was a mess. Broken shards and fruits littered the floor.
Sierra leaned against the head of the bed and looked at him pitifully. She reached out to grab his sleeve. "I thought you despised me and decided to ignore me. If even you leave my side when I'm in this state, what point is there in me living?"
Sierra's parents were right beside her when she said that. She didn't consider how they would feel upon hearing that. She only had eyes for Lewis. Her parents heard her and couldn't hold back their tears.
"Lewis, are you disgusted at my hideous looks and how I'm bedridden?" Sierra laughed mockingly at herself after she said that. She continued, "I mean, who wouldn't? Just look at me."
Lewis fell silent momentarily after listening to her. Then, he asked, "Have you been refusing to eat because of this?"
Sierra said hoarsely, "I don't even want to live anymore. Why should I care about eating?"
Lewis' brows knitted. "Well, I don't have a reason to be here anymore."
He turned to leave, but Sierra quickly held onto him. "Don't leave!" She looked at her parents and said, "You both can wait outside. I have something to say to Lewis."
Her parents hesitated but eventually left the ward.
When the door was shut, Lewis asked, "What is it?"
Sierra said, "My parents told me you were running a background check on me. They also told me I'm not their biological daughter. Lewis, can you tell me who my biological parents are?"
Sierra looked earnest. She desired to know who her birth parents were.
"Do you really want to know?"
Sierra nodded. "Of course! They are my parents, after all!" Sensing the change in Lewis' eyes, Sierra added, "I-I just want to ask them face-to-face why they abandoned me in the first place."
Lewis replied, "You can ask Ms. King."
"Ms. King?" Sierra naturally knew Sophia from her days as an employee at Alvarez Corp, and Sophia was also the first person to come to mind. "You mean Sophia King?"
"That's right."
"Why should I go to her?" Sierra was puzzled.
Lewis answered, "She was the one who donated her blood to you when you were in a critical condition. Besides, the DNA results showed a 30 percent correlation between you both. Do you get it now?"
Sierra stared at him in shock.
What Lewis just said implied she and Sophia were biological sisters. She stuttered, "W-Why wouldn't she come to me if she was my sister?"
"That's a question for you to answer."
Sierra heard a constant buzz in her head. She had zero understanding of Sophia's family and had no idea where she currently lived.
They weren't exactly best friends when she worked at Alvarez Corp; in fact, they were on bad terms with each other. It made sense that Sophia wouldn't want to acknowledge her as her sister.
Lewis bid her goodbye, "Take care. I'll be leaving."
Sierra snapped back to her senses and held his hand again. "Can't you stay a bit longer?"
"I've matters to attend to." Lewis shoved her hand away and ruthlessly turned to leave.
