Lewis was deep in thought. Suddenly, he looked at Yona. "What was it that you just said?"
Yona was stunned. Then, she hurriedly repeated what she said. She ended her speech by dabbing at her eyes woefully. "The company can always terminate my contract if I'm no longer needed. Such an unfair treatment is uncalled for."
Lewis watched indifferently as she put on an act. When she was done acting her part, he looked at Nicolas. "Is that what happened?"
Nicolas frowned. He had no idea whether Lewis was more inclined to settle this dispute professionally or if he was siding with Yona.
After a moment's hesitation, he replied, "We waited too long for her, so I asked Wendy to go and get her. I'm not sure what exactly happened."
Wendy couldn't help feeling disappointed when she heard that. She hadn't expected Nicolas to sit on the fence at a moment like this.
Lewis shifted his gaze to Wendy, and Wendy's face changed. She lowered her head, not knowing what to say. She had already made herself clear. There was nothing she could do if Lewis couldn't tell right from wrong.
"Well, what are all of you waiting for? Proceed with the filming," said Lewis as he went to a chair nearby and took a seat.
Nicolas asked cautiously, "With Yona?"
Lewis looked at him calmly. "Who else, if not her? Me?"
His answer said it all. Nicolas sighed before he turned to the others. "Get set, everyone. Yona, get dressed."
Yona was gleeful. She stole a glimpse at Lewis as she allowed her imagination to run wild.
No one would believe it was a coincidence that someone who hadn't shown himself all this while suddenly decided to drop by the film set. Not only that, he took her side and was seemingly waiting to watch the shoot.
Everything Lewis did lead Yona to believe he could be interested in her. As such, she held back a smile as she darted toward the van to get changed.
Nicolas glanced at Josephine pitifully as he said, "Don't be put down by this. You'll have another chance in the future."
He wasn't only saying that to make her feel better. In fact, he really thought Josephine could join the ranks as an influencer. With her looks, she could easily rise to fame in no time, even if she started from scratch.
Josephine nodded and hummed in acknowledgment. Although she wasn't inclined to join the shoot in the first place, she was annoyed at how Lewis had meddled in her business.
However, she didn't confront him because there were too many people around. Ignoring him, she started helping the others to set up the scene.
Sitting quietly in his seat, Lewis lit a cigarette as he watched her go about her job.
The film set was originally a pedestrian mall outside a shopping mall. After their department racked up profits, Rick rented the entire area as it had various storefronts and was suitable for a film set.
It didn't operate only as a film set, though. The storefronts along the pedestrian mall were still in
business, but they only took delivery orders and not walk-in customers. However, despite not being able to operate normally, the profits they gained from the shoot helped cover a substantial amount of the rental.
The place where Lewis sat belonged to a café, and several parasols stood over him. No one dared to approach where he sat, so the crew could only meekly shift the props to another café some distance away.
Conrad went into the café and ordered Lewis a cup of coffee. He then placed it before Lewis.
Conrad praised, "Sir, madam is surely quick to adapt. She has blended in quite well in such a short time."
With his legs crossed, Lewis leaned back lazily in his chair. He stared intently ahead and ignored Conrad.
Josephine and the rest of the team took half an hour to set the props in place. Nicolas assigned her a task—she was to join the production as an extra.
Ready to start, Nicolas was about to call Yona when he turned and noticed she was talking to Lewis. As such, he could only wait for her in annoyance.
Yona was already dressed up. Mustering her courage, she approached Lewis.
