What Separates Me and You novel Chapter 474

Josephine was somewhat surprised. Seth had finally messaged her.

She hurried to the company's entrance and found Seth's car waiting. She noticed one of Lewis' bodyguards hiding in the shadows, but she saw no need to hide herself. Opening the car door, she got in.

Clad his tuxedo, Seth was in the car with his trademark smile still playing on his lips.

"How's work been these days?"

Josephine turned to look at him, a smile tugging at her lips. "Quite fun."

"Really? I heard that the famous influencer had been looking for trouble with you. You still find it fun?"

Thinking of Yona's childish antics, Josephine couldn't help but chuckle. "Yes."

Yona's petty tactics were of no concern to Josephine. Compared to these two men, Yona's schemes were child's play.

It didn't bother her the slightest bit.

Suddenly, something crossed Josephine's mind. "By the way, why did you suddenly ask to meet me? Is it ..."

She didn't finish her sentence, but Seth understood what she was implying.

Seth shook his head. "Not yet. I'm here to give you something."

As he spoke, he retrieved an exquisite little box from the glove compartment and handed it to Josephine. "Here."

Josephine accepted the box from his hand and opened it to find a delicate pendant inside.

It was a thumb-sized hollow bronze sphere that resembled a bell. Josephine shook the bell gently in her hand. There was something inside, but it made no sound.

"What is this?"

Seth took the pendant from her hand and traced the spherical surface with his fingers. "This is a birthday gift for you."

Josephine's smile stiffened slightly. She stared at Seth in bewilderment. "My birthday?"

"Don't you remember?"

She lowered her head, realizing that she really did not remember. She had celebrated many birthdays over the years, but it was the day she entered the Alvarez family.

Looking back now, she thought those birthdays felt more like a disgrace.

Rather than being her own birthday, it was more like a day of remembrance for her parents. She had actually celebrated her birthday several times on the day of their passing.

She wondered how her parents would feel if they found out about this.

"Come here. Let me help you put it on," Seth's voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts.

Josephine snapped to her senses and set her sorrows aside. She leaned toward Seth.

Seth raised his hand, placed the bronze bell around her neck, and gently adjusted the loose hair near her ears.

As Josephine lifted her head, her gaze met his tender eyes. She found herself momentarily taken aback.

She realized they were less than an inch away from each other.

She could even hear his breathing.

His slightly cold fingers traced across Josephine's cheek. As their eyes met, she saw a hint of mystery in Seth's gaze.

It was as if he was looking at her yet observing someone else through her.

Was it another woman or the girl she used to be when they were younger? She couldn't quite tell.

He cradled her face and murmured, "Didn't you say you would marry me when you grew up?"

Josephine was stunned.

In a fleeting moment, their distance seemed to shorten even more. She saw Seth's face growing larger until all she could focus on were his eyes.

Suddenly jolting back to reality, she sat upright and distanced herself from him. "I should get back to work."

She attempted to open the car door but realized it was locked.
