When Love Becomes a Cage (Melanie) novel Chapter 109

"Say one more word, and I'll have you gone with that piece of rotten meat!" Clyde hugged me and wouldn't let Kayla lay a finger on me.

He glanced back at Gemma. "Take care of things here."

Then, he scooped me up in his arms and marched out of the hospital.

"Clyde, wait!" Several onlookers turned our way, and I felt my cheeks burning with embarrassment, trying to push him away.

But he only held me tighter.

"Move again, and I'll kiss you!" He gritted his teeth, daring me.

I clutched my wig, glaring back at him. "My wig's falling off!"

He paused briefly, then lifted my head higher without releasing his grip.

The car ride was tense, with Clyde's mood palpably low.

We sat in silence until he finally broke it as we neared home. "The kid's not mine."

I hummed in response, not caring either way. The child was gone, and with it, Kayla's last leverage. Just thinking about her furious gaze earlier sent shivers down my spine.

Clyde parked the car and immediately locked the doors. "Melanie, I won't accept the child. I told the hospital I want a DNA test."
