Chapter 159 Personal Nurse
Arriving in Wimustour City, Enelie was surprised by how much colder it was compared to Capebatt City. She realized her clothes weren’t warm enough, so she decided to go shopping for a down jacket at the nearest mall.
Coincidentally, she met Samuel in the hotel lobby. They joked about not bringing enough warm clothes and decided to go to the mall together.
Emelie picked out a beige down jacket, while Samuel chose the same style in black.
She was worried that Samuel might try to pay for her jacket, so she quickly paid for hers while he was busy looking at other things.
“Emelie,” Samuel called out to her from behind.
She turned, and he wrapped a scarf around her neck. “Here, adding a scarf will keep you even warmer.”
As Samuel helped Emelie fix her scarf, she noticed her hair was getting loose. Without much thought, she quickly tied it again. She was unaware of the intimate gesture that made them seem like a couple deeply in love.
Meanwhile, William and Patricia, who were also shopping at the mall, happened to witness the scene.
After observing for a while, Patricia chuckled and remarked, “Looks like I can tease Mr. Bryan about this. He may lag behind Nehemiah in his love life, but now he can’t even keep up with Samuel.”
Emelie and Samuel glanced over together. They spotted William in a suit, pushing a shopping cart, while Patricia, in a red dress, held onto his arm.
Samuel smiled. “What a coincidence. Mr. Middleton and Ms. May, are you also here for some shopping?”
Emelie, not wanting any personal interaction with William, politely smiled and said, “We’re all done here, so we’ll head out first.”
“Come on, let’s leave together. We’re finished too,” Patricia suggested. It left Emelie with no option but to accompany them to the checkout.
Patricia bought some everyday items and snacks. William’s presence on a mere shopping trip added an intriguing dynamic to his relationship with Patricia.
By the counter, there were condoms on display, and Patricia nudged William teasingly with her elbow. “Hey, Will, are you getting any of these?”
William gave her an indifferent glance.
The way she said his name carried a flirtatious undertone.
Turning back to Emelie and Samuel, Patricia asked, “Mr. Swanson and Ms. Hoven, do you two need these?”
Samuel adjusted his glasses, his expression remaining calm. But given his typically good–natured demeanor, this subtle change indicated his annoyance. “Please refrain from such jokes, Ms. May.”
“What’s there to be shy about? We all know each other’s relationships,” Patricia said casually.
She was referring to the cruise party incident. During the cruise, Emelie spent the night with Samuel, while Patricia spent it with William.
William’s stare pierced Emelie like an arrow made of ice. It instantly brought back memories of his warning at the racetrack.
He would make her pay for her “betrayal“.
Emelie avoided his gaze.
After paying the bill, they headed back to the hotel together. Emelie and Samuel were staying on the 17th floor, while William and Patricia were on the 19th, so they got off the elevator first.
Thus, both Patricia and William witnessed Emelie entering Samuel’s room.
Humming a tune, Patricia remarked, “Wouldn’t it be easier if they just booked one room in the first place?”
William remained silent, but his eyes betrayed a weighty frostiness.
–
Emelie and Samuel needed to discuss some work–related matters.
In the world of research, it was often crucial to conduct on–site investigations to uncover problems. For instance, the colder temperatures in Wimstour City could be a major factor.
Their discussions continued until dinnertime, prompting them to choose room service. After enjoying their food and conversation, they bid farewell, only to realize it was already past 9:00 pm.
Emelie ended up spending more than three hours in Samuel’s room without even realizing it.
Though their rooms were on the same floor, they weren’t next to each other.
Navigating through the hotel corridors, she followed the signs on the walls and didn’t encounter anyone along the way.
However, at that moment, she experienced that unsettling sensation again. It was as if she was being watched, perhaps even photographed.
Emelie quickly turned her head, only to find nothing there.
If it happened once, it could be dismissed as a trick of the mind, but twice? She couldn’t ignore the feeling any longer. She was sure someone was tailing her. Instead of rushing back to her room, Emelie chose to confront the tracker.
The feeling of being watched wasn’t exclusive to Wimstour City. Emelie experienced it a few times back in Capebatt City too.
If it turned out to be true, it would be absolutely terrifying. If she didn’t catch the person now, she knew she’d be constantly on edge in the future.
