Chapter 339 Is She Really Pregnant
The woman lowered her head dejectedly, behaving as if she could not explain herself.
Cedrick said in a low voice, “Forget it. You can leave now.”

Displeased with the fact that she was reprimanded, her boyfriend retorted, “You were the one who walked out in front of us. Do you think you’re better than us just because you’re rich? She already said it was an accident. Why won’t you let it go?”
At the end of his utterances, he threw a snowball at Cedrick while Kieran and Treyton were not looking.
The snowball exploded into a flurry of snow at Cedrick’s feet, splattering across the inky black surface of his expensive shoes.
Cedrick did not react in the slightest. With Treyton’s support, he continued walking and did not look to the side even once.
Treyton, on the other hand, was infuriated. After entrusting Cedrick to Kieran’s care, he called on the laboratory’s security guards to seize the couple.
The couple made to flee, but the guards caught ahold of them almost immediately.
Treyton glared at them coldly. “Take them to the police station. Write them up for slander and intentional assault.”
“Understood. Rest assured that we’ll get it done, Mr. Treyton.”
Once Treyton was done giving out instructions, he turned around and soon got into Cedrick’s car. The three of them then sped back to Harrick Villa in the midst of the snowy night.
As soon as the couple were brought to the police station, they were escorted away by people from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The man who had tossed a snowball at Cedrick was currently standing obediently in Craig’s office.
“Mr. Craig, I think Mr. Jenson has gone blind,” he reported.
Craig took his crossed legs off of his desk and sat upright. “Are you certain?“.
“Yes. Mr. Jenson needed someone to help him around. Even though he had sunglasses on, he didn’t react at all when I threw the snowball at him. However, by right, any normal person would lower their head to take a look.”
Craig’s eyes glinted with surprise as he put his elbow on the table and propped up his chin with his fist. “How is Mr. Jenson supposed to stay in charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation if he’s blind? It’s about time for him to step down and let someone else take the lead.”
He even began to chuckle at the thought. “We shouldn’t keep this good news to ourselves. Tell Yael about it. He can choose what he wants to do with this information, and whatever he does is none of my business.”
Upon returning to Harrick Villa, Kieran and Treyton planned to rest in their rooms, but Cedrick called them into his bedroom.
In a somber tone, Cedrick said, “Yael wasn’t the one behind what happened in front of the laboratory

Kieran and Treyton agreed silently. They were both smart enough to put two and two together after what had just happened.
Cedrick continued, “Either of them will be itching to overthrow me once they hear about this. I don’t think tomorrow’s surgery will go smoothly.”
Kieran’s and Treyton’s expressions became grave. After exchanging looks with each other, they looked at Cedrick at the same time.
Treyton asked, “Since you brought this up, I presume that you already have a plan to solve this?”
Casting his eyes downward, Cedrick quirked his thin lips into a slight smile..
Night had fallen upon Chanaea, but it was still daytime in Erihal, near midday.
up
Gwendolyn sat in front of her bedroom window, viewing the picturesque scenery outside out of boredom.
In her mind, she was calculating the time difference between her and Cedrick. Idly, she wondered if he was asleep and if he was dreaming about her.
A knock on the door interrupted her train of thought. It was Nico who came in with her lunch.
“It’s time for lunch, Ms. Gwendolyn,” he said.
Due to the listening device on the overhead light, he proceeded to sing Charles‘ praises.
“Mr. Lund mentioned that you haven’t had an appetite because you don’t like the food here as much. He purposely found a Chanaean restaurant here and ordered a few grilled vegetable dishes for you.”
At the sound of some Chanaean food, Gwendolyn could not help but get up and stand before the table to take a look at the tray.
Sure enough, there were a number of Chanaean dishes on the tray that looked perfectly authentic. It almost felt as if they had been flown in straight from Chanaea.
The dishes looked great, but the smell of grease coming from the food caused nausea to well up in Gwendolyn’s gut.
She tried so hard to hold back her nausea that her face turned pale. In the end, she could not resist the urge to vomit and made a dash for the bathroom.
Gwendolyn had barely eaten anything for breakfast, and all she managed to vomit was a bunch of watered–down gastric acid. Her throat was rough and burned faintly from all the retching.
Nico looked in her direction and frowned as he began to realize something.
By the time Gwendolyn was done vomiting and left the bathroom after cleaning herself up, Nico had already turned off the listening device on the overhead light.
He had also locked the windows and bedroom door.
His expression was a serious one, and he hesitated briefly before mustering the courage to ask, “Ms. Gwendolyn, have you noticed any changes in your physical condition lately?”

Gwendolyn was massaging her chest as she ruminated on his question. “I think there are some changes. I always lack appetite, and I can’t stand the smell of any kind of cooking. I also feel sleepy constantly.”
Initially, she thought she would have a fair share of sleepless nights due to her constant thinking of Cedrick.
However, she had not lost a single wink of sleep since she arrived in Erihal. Every night, she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.
Nico silently shifted his gaze to her stomach. “Do you think… you could be pregnant?”
“Pregnant?” Gwendolyn was taken aback. Barely considering that possibility, she continued, “That’s impossible. I’ve slept with Ceddy multiple times in the past, and I was never able to get pregnant, so why would I get pregnant now of all times…”
At the end of her utterances, her whole body stiffened.
Come to think of it, my period is about two weeks late. Moreover, my recent symptoms really do seem to hint at a pregnancy.
She moved her hands down and gently caressed her belly. Her gaze then followed her movements.
If that’s true, this baby came at the worst time possible. Life truly isn’t on my side. I couldn’t get pregnant when I wanted to, yet this baby came when I didn’t want to be pregnant at all…
The smell coming from the food was causing her stomach to churn again. With nothing left in her to throw up, Gwendolyn could only dry–heave in front of the sink.
Finally catching on to the situation, Nico covered the food on the table with plates and switched on the air purifier.
