Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 433

When Treyton noticed that Elisha was constantly stealing glances at the rearview mirror, he cut a sharp gaze over.

Immediately intimidated, Elisha lowered the partition between the front and back seats.

Whoa! I didn’t see anything, nothing at all!

As soon as the partition was fully lowered, Treyton swung his hand and struck Jennifer twice more with the same force.

Ouch, it hurts so badly!

Tears welled in Jennifer’s eyes. Her upper body was pinned against his lap with his hand restraining her waist, locking her in place.

She was stumped for two seconds before she belatedly snapped back to her senses. Instantly, the tears in her eyes threatened to overflow, and devastation slammed into her.

“How could you hit me, Treyton?”

Sighing, Treyton explained solemnly, “I was merely disciplining my disobedient girlfriend. It was grounded on the basis of my love for you. Since you were being unreasonable, I could only punish you in such a manner to wake you up.”

“But what right do you have to punish me?” Jennifer bit her lower lip hard, her eyes stinging hotly.

Catching the hint of tears in her voice, Treyton placed his palm on her butt and gently massaged it.

“I’ve got the right to do so because you wanted to break up with me. But I haven’t agreed to it, and you’re still staying at my place now, not to mention we’re still a couple.”

Jennifer promptly wilted. She was both mortified and irked that he was touching her in such a manner, but he had a tight grip on her waist, and she could not move an inch.

At her silence, Treyton asked softly while massaging her butt, “What exactly is wrong with you, Jennifer? What have I done wrong recently that you want to break up with me?”

Jennifer’s eyes turned increasingly redder, an aggrieved look gradually filling them.

“Several times, you urged me to return to the Newton residence because only then can you marry me without being mocked and ridiculed by anyone as I’ll have a matching family background. Treyton, do you love me or my identity as the daughter of the Newton family?”

Hearing that, Treyton was slightly taken aback.

Oh, it’s because of this. Indeed, I’ve persuaded her about the matter multiple times previously, hoping that she’d return to the fold of the Newton family earlier and change her family name to reflect it. Because of that, we’ve even argued several times. Perhaps the way I spoke wasn’t quite right.

He somberly mulled it over before questioning in a low voice, “Why do you hate the Newton family so much when they’re your family, Jennifer?”

At that, Jennifer gave a derisive bark of laughter. “Is a cage without love a home? And are siblings without any affection for each other family? In my eyes, they can’t even compare to Gwendolyn.”

Some people are more than family despite being unrelated by blood. But some are even more indifferent than strangers, albeit having the same blood flowing through our veins.

She then asserted, “I don’t want to return to the Newton residence in the least. I’m not happy there.”

Jasmine has never welcomed me. Instead, she fervently hopes that I’ll never return to the family. Craig appears to be the brother who cares most about me, but he’s also the most hard-hearted and apathetic among the lot of them. He treats his family no differently from his subordinates, perpetually barking orders. Worse still, there’s the secret at the top floor of the Newton residence. To me, it’s a sinister and terrifying place capable of swallowing me whole.

Corralling her thoughts, she demanded, “So, we can never get married so long as I don’t return to the Newton residence and announce my identity as part of the family?”

In response, Treyton heaved a sigh. “Jennifer, I don’t care whether you’re an orphan or the daughter of the Newton family. As long as you want to get married, I’m ready anytime. I don’t care even if I become the laughingstock of the elite circles.”

Helping her up, he lifted her butt and placed her astride his lap.

He cradled her face with both hands, clarifying seriously, “I kept persuading you to return to the Newton residence because I hoped you could get out of your comfort zone and try accepting your family. I know that while you appear indifferent, the matter of the Newton family is actually never far from your mind. You’ve never experienced familial love since young, and you were elated upon learning that you were part of the Newton family. But after you spent a few days at the Newton residence, you found it different from the family you had envisioned. You felt that you couldn’t fit into the family, so you have been avoiding them. In truth, Jennifer, I hope you can face all this head-on and be truly happy. I’ll also help you talk to them.”

Lowering her eyes, Jennifer plunged into silent contemplation, saying nothing for a long time.

Treyton cradled the back of her head lightly, seemingly in preparation for kissing her in comfort.

Regretfully, she pushed him away.

“You’re still mad at me, Jennifer?”

Nodding, Jennifer scowled at him with displeasure etched across her features. “I’ll consider the matter about the Newton family, but don’t mention it again before I’ve made up my mind.”

“Okay.” Treyton flashed her an indulgent smile. He again cradled the back of her head to kiss her.
