Gwendolyn cast a quick glance at him.
He should know the reason, no? It's all because I'm afraid of awakening the green-eyed monster within him.
“If I had willingly chosen a gift for Charles, you would have been furious, wouldn't you?”
Cedrick lowered his gaze, neither confirming nor denying. “You must be joking, Darling.”
Gwendolyn scoffed, “I never intended to pick a gift for Charles. I entrust that task to you. After all, men understand other men best. Besides, it's a token of gratitude for taking care of the babies. You should take it seriously too.”
“Fair enough,” Cedrick agreed, though he couldn't help but cast a peculiar gaze at her.
If men truly understand men best, why did she help choose Nico's gift? Isn't Nico also a man?
With a resigned shake of his head, he proceeded to explore a luxury watch store. Soon after, he selected a black and gold timepiece for Charles.
Once the gift was sorted, Cedrick accompanied Gwendolyn to the women's clothing section, where he picked out several dresses.
All the dresses were in different shades of green.
Gwendolyn couldn't help but express her bewilderment. “Why are you only choosing dresses in this color range?”
“Because my wife has a particular fondness for green,” he responded with a warm smile.
It doesn't mean that I need to have an exclusive wardrobe of that color.
However, bound by her promise to Cedrick last night, she refrained from voicing her thoughts and embraced his choices with genuine acceptance.
Undeniably, his taste was impeccable, and the dresses he selected were stunning.
Finally, the moment Cedrick had been eagerly anticipating arrived—the visit to an adult novelty store.
Gwendolyn had never ventured into such a place before, and she felt a surge of embarrassment engulf her.
Her cheeks tinged with subtle blush as she stood twenty meters away from the entrance. She was clearly reluctant to enter the store.
Cedrick turned to look at her and asked, “What's the matter, Darling? Are you upset?”
“No decent girl would step foot in a place like this,” she hissed. Gathering her resolve, she continued, “I'll wait outside for you. Feel free to explore and choose according to your own preferences. Once you're finished, come find me.”
Considering her young age, it's natural for her to feel shy to be in a place like this.
Cedrick decided not to push her further. “Don't stray too far. I'll quickly pick up some adorable outfits.”
Gwendolyn nodded.
Once Cedrick entered the novelty store, she sat down in a resting area and used her phone.
After a short while, she heard the sound of high heels drawing nearer with each passing moment.
At first, she disregarded the sound, but her gaze instinctively shifted as a pair of white high heels came into view. Her eyes traced the graceful contour of the slender legs upward.
It was Annie Steinfeld.
“What a coincidence! Paul and I always seem to run into you when we're out shopping. Oh, why are you alone? Where's Mr. Jenson?”
Gwendolyn remained seated in a relaxed posture. She smiled and replied, “He's buying something. You're here with Mr. Hall? How come I don't see him?”
Annie's makeup was exquisite, and she smiled gracefully. “He went to the restroom. I'm waiting for him outside.”
“Would you like to take a seat? Let's chat for a while.”
“I'd be delighted.”
Gwendolyn shifted slightly, putting about a person's shoulder width between them.
It was meant to symbolize the unbridgeable gap between them.
