Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 551

Chapter 551 Not Painful But Utterly Humiliating

Seeing that their women were both gaming enthusiastically, Cedrick and Treyton waited silently in fear of spoiling their fun.

One rubbed the tip of his nose and gazed up at the moon in the sky while the other brushed his fingers across his watch in boredom.

After they had waited for several minutes, a mechanical voice rang out, announcing that the game had ended in defeat.

Heaving a sigh of disappointment in concert, Gwendolyn and Jennifer started to summarize the reason for their loss.

“Jennifer, you shouldn't have dealt last hits in the bottom lane during that wave earlier but came over to provide support. The bounty for killing the enemy hero on the other side of the river was far greater. Anyway, we've still got a chance of winning this time.”

Jennifer was very much obedient. “Okay. Let's start over again, and I'll listen to you this time, okay?”

Reaching a consensus, the two women geared up to start a new match.

Just then, Cedrick brought his fist up to his mouth and cleared his throat loudly.

Treyton eyed him before immediately following suit at an even louder volume.

The two women begrudgingly raised their heads, only to see that their men were there to pick them up.

“Why have you come, Hubby?” Gwendolyn asked.

Cedrick stared at her, his handsome face as black as thunder. His voice was gentle, yet his words were disapproving. “Look at the time now. Were you planning to stay out if I hadn't come to look for you, Darling?”

Closing the game interface, Gwendolyn belatedly took a look at the time. It was only then that she realized she had been so engrossed in gaming that she forgot the time, and it was already past nine o'clock.

Nighttime was the peak of her manic episodes. As such, it was indeed too dangerous for her to remain outside. Furthermore, she had not told her family about her condition because she did not want to worry them.

If we'd continued gaming for another few hours, Jennifer would've probably been scared witless when she inadvertently witnessed my manic episode!

She put her phone away before turning to Jennifer beside her solemnly. “Are you feeling better now, Jennifer?”

In response, Jennifer bobbed her head. “I'm really happy to have gamed with you tonight, Gwendolyn . But...”

The smile on her face gradually faded. Furtively stealing a peek at Treyton, who was a stone's throw away, she fiddled with the hem of her shirt uneasily.

He'd be mad when I go back tonight, wouldn't he?

As a matter of fact, Treyton was infuriated. She's a defenseless girl, yet she came to such a deserted place in the middle of the night. I'd be haunted by regret if she ran into scoundrels! Verily, she doesn't have any safety consciousness!

His fury seemingly blazed even hotter the further he pondered upon the matter. Taking a few strides forward, he clutched Jennifer's wrist tightly. “Come. Don't intrude on Cedrick and Gwendolyn here. Let's go home.”

The man's grip was strong, and Jennifer could clearly sense his wrath. Unfortunately, she could not break free from his restraint and could only be dragged away. She glanced back over her shoulder at Gwendolyn in terror, beseeching the latter for help.

Gwendolyn understood her plea for help, but it was their personal matter at the end of the day, so it was inappropriate for her to interfere. She could only try her best by urging, “Treyton, Jennifer's kind of slow in academic things. Be more patient and encourage her often. Don't demoralize her. Also, talk things out at home.”

Treyton grunted in acquiescence, his voice low and grim. “I know. I'll do so.”

After he had said that, he forcibly stuffed Jennifer into his luxurious car.

In the next heartbeat, the roar of an engine broke the silence of the dark night. The luxurious car sped off like an arrow in the moonlight.

Gwendolyn sighed, worried about how her brother would be able to coax Jennifer at home later.

Seemingly perceiving her worry, Cedrick abruptly interrupted her train of thought. “Don't brood over it anymore, Gwenny. It's a matter between themselves. You can’t do anything about it, and you have no right to do so anyway.”

Gwendolyn gave a dip of her head. Naturally, she knew that all too well. Still, she was a touch concerned. “Treyton appeared livid tonight. Would he have a row with Jennifer when he gets home?”

“I don't think so.” Stepping forward, Cedrick lightly took her hand and made his way back with her.

Gwendolyn snapped her head to him. “How could you be so sure? What did you two talk about when you came over together tonight?”

Unexpectedly, Cedrick fell silent for a long moment.

Fortunately, we didn't talk about anything much. I merely told him to keep his fiancée in line and manage his relationship well so as to intrude less on my life with Gwendolyn.

“Hmm? Why aren't you saying anything?”

“Nothing much. We just had a casual chat. I advised him to be gentler with Jennifer.”

At that, relief suffused Gwendolyn. Since he'd said as much, Treyton would surely listen to him.

Subsequently, the two of them got into the car and went back to Harrick Villa.

Considering the late hour, they had no intention of going upstairs. They went straight to the basement as though it was their bedroom.

Before entering the basement, Gwendolyn fretted, “If I were to have a manic episode tonight, Hubby, would you be fine fighting with me? Would you be injured? Would you be drained from the weariness? Could you really manage?”

Cedrick was inexorably taken aback.
