Wooing My ex-wife (Gwendolyn and Maverick) novel Chapter 611

Chapter 611 Safe And Luxurious

Watching his son lose control of his emotions to this extent and being unable to help in any way while facing the imposing Cedrick at the door, Yael felt utterly powerless.

He hugged Xander heartbrokenly and glared at Cedrick.

Cedrick lazily took off the leather gloves that had just touched Xander and tossed them to the police officer.

As he was about to leave, he left one final remark. “This is your last chance. If I don't get the answer I want before ten o'clock tonight, then I might as well go down with you in this matter. However, I'm not losing anything. I never knew the truth behind my parents' death in the first place, and I will continue to be unaware of it in the future. I have nothing to lose. It's not the same for you, though. You have to bear the loss of your only precious son. When it comes to this, I believe you are better at calculating than I am.”

He smirked and snorted before turning around to leave, allowing the father and son duo to have their moments.

In the prison cell, Yael took nearly half an hour to calm Xander down and make him listen quietly to what he had to say.

“What exactly did Cedrick do to you in the past two days? How did you get arrested again?”

Looking at Xander's injuries all over his body, Yael spoke in a softer tone.

Xander sobbed, “Dad, before I could board the freighter, Neville captured me at the dock. I couldn't outrun him, and when I tried to jump into the water, I was quickly pulled back to shore again. They immediately handcuffed me and forced me into a car, taking me to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.”

He swallowed a lump in his throat and recalled everything he had experienced in that prison cell. His whole body trembled uncontrollably. He was overwhelmed by fear.

“Dad, the people in my previous prison cell are all sc*mbags. They even tried to assault me, and they would beat the crap out of me every few hours. They said the smell of blood on me was unbearable and forced me to sleep in a filthy toilet. It's really driving me crazy! Dad, save me! I really don't wanna go back in anymore! They will beat me to death for sure! Please, Dad!”

Yael patted his back and kept comforting him. “I won't allow you to be sent back again. I will save you and make sure you live a safe and luxurious life again.”

Safe and luxurious?

When Xander heard what his father said, it felt like heaven to him.

The things that Xander used to look down on were now a luxury to him.

He was filled with hatred.

He hated his grandfather for being so biased toward Cedrick and not willing to pass on the position of power to Yael. Otherwise, he wouldn't be in this situation. He would have already crushed Cedrick under his feet, and there wouldn't be so much trouble now.

“Dad, tell Cedrick everything he wants to know. I'll be happy as long as I can make him suffer. All the suffering I endured in that prison cell was because of him! I want him to never have a moment of peace in his entire life!”

Yael's grip on his arm tightened slightly, and there was a moment of silence before he spoke. “You don't understand... The truth is not something trivial. Once Cedrick finds out, he won't spare anyone.”

If it wasn't for the fact that he had to save Xander and did not want to see his son get sent to jail, he would rather bring this secret down to his own grave.

However, he didn't expect Cedrick to be so cunning. Cedrick didn't even give him any conditions and just threatened him instead.

Resentment filled Xander's eyes as he said, “I just want to know if Cedrick will be upset once he finds out the truth. I want him to be in denial. I'll be happy as long as he's not.”

Yael once again remained silent, not saying a single word for a long while.

Xander was exhausted.

After being on tenterhooks and taking many beatings for two days and nights without any sleep or food, he could barely hold on much longer.

Now, in his father's embrace, he slept soundly like a baby.

Yael hugged his son tightly and felt extremely helpless. A sinister look surfaced in his eyes, and he gradually developed a ruthless determination for mutual destruction.

Although there were two people in the prison cell, the guards only sent one meal over under the instructions that were given to them.

Yael didn't eat any and left it all for Xander.

As he devoured his food, devoid of the aristocratic demeanor he once possessed, Yael couldn't help but feel his heart ache. He gently stroked Xander's disheveled hair, which was also a sign of the hardships he had endured.

“Slow down. Don't choke yourself. Nobody is going to snatch this away from you.”

Xander nodded but still ate quickly. He had been starved for two days, and he had never expected prison food to be nicer than his previous luxurious meals.
