Shortly after the designated time, they arrived at the camping site halfway up the mountain. Felix was even a few minutes early, waiting at the entrance.
Vicki raised an eyebrow. "You're faster than us? Right, you went back to get something, so you were closer."
Felix pulled Vicki close and looked around, unable to hide his surprise. "This place has been abandoned for a long time. It doesn't look like anyone has been here. The weeds are over a meter high, and the path is barely visible. Luther, are you sure this is the place?"
Luther pushed aside some weeds and took a few steps forward. "It should be. We enter from this side, climb halfway up, and the end is a cliff." His nightmarish past made his memory particularly vivid; he couldn't possibly be mistaken.
"You saying that jogs my memory," Felix nodded. He turned to Vicki and said, "Back then, Athena jumped off the cliff from here. Since then, we've been at odds with Christian, and we still haven't reconciled. We used to be like brothers. It's all because of that woman who's like a lunatic. I said she was sick, but Christian didn't believe me."
Vicki, who had been with Christian before, naturally knew about this history. Everyone thought Athena was dead, but in reality, she had only been in a coma for ten years. When she woke up, she caused trouble.
The others followed Luther into the deep weeds. Joyce's heart skipped a beat; this terrain was very unfavorable for them. Although the people they sent could hide in the bushes, supporting them would be difficult. The most troublesome part was that deep in the mountains, it was impossible to get an accurate GPS location.
As they continued further in, a path gradually formed. Luther pointed to the footprints on the ground. "There's frequent foot traffic here. There are quite a few of them. It looks like they should be up ahead."
"Damn, when did Athena build a base in such a godforsaken place? We never knew about it." Felix cursed under his breath. "Mr. Ball and his people have been searching for so long and never found this place."
"What's the point of saying all this? Let's move," Vicki pushed Felix from behind. "Once this is over, I'm going to burn this place to the ground and see if anything can still be hidden here."
Felix hesitated for a moment and then continued forward.
Finally, the true appearance of the secret base emerged: a seemingly inconspicuous brick house. It looked like an abandoned temporary warehouse, covered by weeds over a meter high. From a slightly greater distance, it was completely unnoticeable. It was no wonder that it had never been discovered for so many years.
As they approached, a group of black-clad people armed to the teeth immediately rushed towards them from the bushes. They had not been noticed at all when they had approached.
Joyce subconsciously placed her hand on her waist, ready at a moment's notice. She could draw her gun in just fractions of a second.
Vicki whispered from behind Joyce, "Wait, don't forget about the hostages."
Joyce nodded. She was well aware that even if they charged in, they couldn't save the children. The Bryant family and Reuben had helped them, and she had to be very careful.
At this moment, Luther gently pushed Joyce. "Their leader is here. It looks like it's the one Christian mentioned: Aldis."
As they spoke, Aldis strolled over casually.
He beckoned with his finger, and all the black-clad people around him gathered. "Colonel, what are your orders?"
Joyce and Luther exchanged a glance. They couldn't believe that they were calling Aldis "Colonel." Aldis not only belonged to Clint, but he also had a legitimate military rank, representing the Royal Rohomes Defense Force. This was beyond their expectations. With this revelation, it was even more unsuitable to engage in a major conflict. They had to be cautious of Aldis's status.
Luther instinctively shielded Joyce behind him.
Vicki crossed her arms, coldly staring at Aldis, her sharp eyes narrowed.
Aldis, unlike what she had imagined, had a wild and unrestrained appearance, with a strong sense of casualness, and a tattoo faintly visible on his neck with bold patterns. Everything about him suited his status.
However, Vicki's eyes flickered. She had been around many people since she was young. The strange thing was that Aldis's eyes were exceptionally clear, without any impurities. This was not ordinary.

The readers' comments on the novel: Wrong marriage and sweet love (Joyce and Luther)
If this is the ending of this story the story then I wish I hadn’t started reading it doesn’t even end right has not closure. To bad these writers don’t put much into their endings....
When will the new chapters come I can't wait any longer...
Very strange ending, is Joyce pregnant again or does she still have remnants of the devil with her. Christian should have apologized and made up with Luther and Felix. Too much violence and twists and turns, once settled, everyone should be happy and healthy....
Omg… can’t you just let Luther and Joyce live in peace with their children….another controversy doesn’t add to the story....
Not again, ugh … just get rid of this disgusting despicable woman...
Hopefully the underground bio lab East523will be found soon and Luther will make a full recovery, Lily will be reunited with the family and all will be good. Otherwise this will be a very disappointing story....
Please don’t make more trouble for Joyce and Luther, they need to have their children and be happy...
Looking forward to Joyce shooting Otis where it will hurt him the most and end his disgusting ways with women. He’s a pig, deserves to lose his “unit”....
Just tell him you’re the one that saved him , not the evil woman and find your beautiful love story together. Quit being a wet blanket, too smart for that....
I hate it when the hero and heroine are made out to be fools for the evil people that wish to steal their lives and live. Hopefully Charlotte is found out quickly and removed. Why should a villain with an illegitimate child reap all the rewards. Terrible....
