Chapter 226
When Estrella came back to town, Jason was definitely ticked off about her constant divorce talk, not to mention the out-of-the-blue baby drama and her teaming up with Serene. So when Estrella denied Isaac’s identity, Jason didn’t bother to dig deeper. After all, the kid did look barely a year, old, and Drew had dug up some dirt about a past boyfriend.
However, after all the dust had settled and Jason’s temper cooled, he couldn’t help but look at Isaac with a new suspicion.
Bryce laughed out loud when he heard Jason’s probing questions. He stopped in his tracks, turned to Jason and said, “If you’re that curious, why didn’t you just ask Estrella?”
With a pat on Jason’s shoulder, Bryce added, “I’m heading back to the office, bro. You mull it over.” With a wave over his shoulder, Bryce left Jason standing there, contemplating.
Jason didn’t turn back to find Estrella. Instead, he made his way to the hospital’s open-air parking lot. Drew opened the back door and reported to him. “Mr. Jason, the person has
been taken there.”
“Take me there,” Jason said, his voice detached.
Half an hour later, they pulled up in front of an abandoned factory that bore the sign ‘Nelson International.’ Inside, Drew pointed out “Mr. Jason, this is Gay, the big cheese of Galactic Enterprises.”
The man appeared to be in his fifties, dressed in a black suit. His once neatly combed hair was now somewhat disheveled. Both of his hands were tied behind his back, giving him a disheveled and distressed appearance,
“Mr. Jason. Drew,” the guards and the attendants quickly greeted Jason when they sa
him arrive.
Gay stood up quickly from his chair when he saw Jason, his voice pleading, “Mr. Jason.” Then he stammered out, “Mr. Jason, I’ve been racking my brain since your men grabbed me, and for the life of me, I can’t figure out how I could’ve crossed you.” Jason was a big fish, not someone Gay could ever hope to cross.
Listening to his plea, Jason began rolling up his shirt sleeves, turned to Drew and asked, “You’re sure about this? No mistakes?”
“Mr. Jason, we’ve checked everything. ChemiSphere is a subsidiary of Galactic Enterprises, and those villagers were organized. We’ve detained the ringleaders,” Drew reported, his tone serious.
Gay had a hunch he knew what this was about, but he wasn’t quite sure. He ventured, “Mr. Jason, are you referring to this morning’s incident at Glimmering Lake? There’s been a misunderstanding, I assure you. I had no knowledge of this.”

Chapter 226
In truth, Gay was the one who’d ordered the villagers to block the road and obstruct the court’s sampling, but now he couldn’t fathom how this had enraged Jason.
As Gay fumbled for an explanation, Jason flexed his neck muscles and said with calm menace, “My wife fractured her left leg. I’d say breaking both of yours is fair play.”
Gay’s realization hit him like a ton of bricks-the injured lawyer from that morning was Jason’s wife.
However, Gay hadn’t heard that Jason was married, let alone knowing that the lawyer was his wife. Otherwise, Gay would have fiercely protected her, ensuring that no one laid a finger on her.
As Gay frantically tried to clear the air, Jason simply picked up a piece of discarded pipe that Drew handed him.
Seeing the pipe, Gay’s soul nearly left his body. “Mr. Jason, this isn’t right. You’re crossing a line. Your wife’s a lawyer, and you should-”
His babbling was cut short as Jason swung the heavy pipe down onto Gay’s leg. The sound of shattering bone was followed by Gay’s screams of agony.
Cradling his injured leg, tears streaming down his face, Gay whimpered, “Mr. Jason, I didn’t do it on purpose, I swear.”
Jason’s gaze remained icy as he struck again, leaving Gay not knowing which leg to clutch.
A cry of pain filled the room as Jason coldly tossed a water pipe on the floor. Gritting his teeth, Gay sternly said, “Jason, you are knowingly breaking the law. I…”
Clapping the dust off his hands, Jason retorted nonchalantly, “And if I did break the lay so what?”
Sometimes, you can’t reason with certain people; a straightforward and ruthless method can work better.
Doubled over in pain, Gay hadn’t expected Jason, who seemed so sophisticated, to be so brutal in his actions. Jason’s strikes had just resulted in a compound fracture for Gay, who wouldn’t be walking properly until at least this time next year.
“Jason”, Gay hissed, “don’t take advantage of the Nelson family’s high status to act so recklessly. Fortune changes with time, and you too could take a fall one day.”
Jason’s only response to Gay’s anger and despair was to command the head bodyguard, “Don’t let him off easy.” With that, Jason pocketed his hands and walked away.
Jason admitted that he wasn’t a saint. He was domineering, sometimes cruel, but he never targeted the innocent or gambled with others’ lives for profit.
Even though the divorce papers with Estrella were signed, in Jason’s heart, she was still
