99 Bloody Lashes And A Bullet To His Hear novel Chapter 68

“Olivia, you’re not mad?”

“You said it’s fake, right?” She smiled faintly. “So why would I be mad?”

Hearing this, the tension in his chest eased. He instinctively pulled her into his arms, his large hand tracing lazy circles against her waist, fingertips slipping under her shirt-

But she caught his wrist.

He froze.

Before he could say a word, she had already stepped out of his embrace.

“I’m not feeling well today. Let’s not.”

“Your period?”

He didn’t push further, simply massaging her stomach as he held her through the night.

The next morning, when Olivia woke up, the bed beside her was empty.

She didn’t care.

She got ready, took a cab to the office, and went straight to HR.

Grabbing a resignation form, she tucked it into a pile of documents that needed signatures before heading upstairs

to the CEO’s office.

But the moment she pushed open the door, she froze.

Inside, the always proud, always untouchable Joe was kneeling on one knee…

Gently massaging another woman’s ankle.

He took off her high heels, set them aside, then carefully slid a pair of flats onto her feet.

“High heels must’ve hurt, right? You don’t need to be perfect around me. I just want you to be comfortable.”

Hearing the sound of the door, both of them turned to look at her.

Joe’s face flickered–just for a moment–before he quickly composed himself.

Before he could speak, the woman beside him frowned.

“Joe, your secretary is quite rude. Doesn’t she know how to knock?”

Olivia opened her mouth.

But she couldn’t say anything.

What could she say?

That she once had the privilege to enter his office freely?

That this man, who now had a fiancée, had once given her that privilege?

She turned to Joe.

But he averted his gaze, clearing his throat before speaking in a detached, businesslike tone.

“What are you here for?”

“President Evans,” she said quietly, placing the documents on his desk. “These need your signature.”

Joe flipped through them, signing each one with quick, practiced strokes.

When he reached the last page, she pressed her lips together.

It was her resignation letter.
