“I’ve already brought her here. You should come over immediately. I’ve sent you the address and her photo.”
Sophia’s voice was very distinct, and Joe quickly realized that the man wasn’t lying. His face darkened even more, and he lowered his head to look at Sophia, who was clinging to his leg. His gaze was cold, making her shiver with
fear.
Rage consumed his rationality, and he even forgot that the person in front of him was the woman he had loved for ten whole years. With a forceful shove, he kicked her away.
The sudden impact left Sophia stunned, pain mixing with her shock, forcing tears to spill from her eyes. She opened her mouth but couldn’t make a sound. All she could do was watch him make a phone call before turning and leaving, casually pulling the door shut behind him.
Joe never imagined that his gentle and kind–hearted Sophia would do such a thing. What shocked him even more was that his first reaction upon hearing the news was to think of Olivia, who must be furious after being wronged.
His steps quickened as he hurried out of the banquet hall and went straight to the underground parking lot of the hotel. After getting his car, he sped off. Meanwhile, his phone, which he had carelessly left behind, began vibrating non–stop, the ringtone ringing over and over. Finally, growing impatient, he turned it off.
The world grew quiet, and the car finally stopped in front of a villa in Golden community.
He opened the door and entered, only to find the villa eerily quiet and empty, with no signs of anyone having lived there. He froze for a moment, and then a self–deprecating smile appeared on his face.
It turned out, she had never been here at all.
He felt a bit lost, the things he had always believed now being overturned. Reluctantly, he turned his phone back on, and the flood of missed calls and messages caused it to freeze for a full five minutes before returning to normal. He ignored the messages asking where he had gone and immediately found Jennifer’s contact, dialing her number.
She answered quickly, as if she had been looking for him, her voice filled with urgency. “Bro, the wedding has started! Where are you? Why did you lock up my sister–in–law?”
Questions kept coming, but he didn’t have the time to answer. Instead, he urgently asked about Olivia. “Jennifer, have you been able to contact Olivia?”
Jennifer paused, a little surprised. She hadn’t expected Joe, who had suddenly disappeared from the wedding, to answer the phone and, instead of explaining the wedding, ask about Olivia, who had already returned to London.
“Yes, she sent me a photo today and showed me her fiancé. He’s powerful and kind to her, far better than her previous boyfriend, who was so reclusive… Hey? Hey! Bro!”
