Chapter 37 She Can’t Afford It
Her hatred stung his heart, but he remained resolute.
‘I’m not asking you to remain blind forever. It’s temporary. Isabella needs the surgery now, and I will find suitable eyes for you as soon as possible…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Natalie slapped him hard across the face.
Temporary?
What was that supposed to mean?
She glared at Cedric one last time and turned to open the hospital room door. Then, she said coldly, “She can’t afford my eyes, and neither can you.”
With that, she left, ignoring the man who radiated an icy aura behind her.
Cedric had finally said it.
Natalie had given up on having any illusions about him, but it still hurt when it came to this moment.
Ten years. They had ten years together…!
What drove him to make such a decision for another woman?!
What was the reason behind it all? 1
Natalie asked herself these questions repeatedly but couldn’t find the answers.
If Cedric didn’t tell her, she… would never know.
Natalie had no recollection of how she left the hospital. In the car, she called Bianca. Blanca must have been very busy since she only answered at the very last second.
She didn’t sound like she was in a good mood.
“Nat.
Bia, are you okay?
hinking of what Cedric had said, Natalie’s heart clenched. She had always known that when it came to Cedric, he would react like this if pushed too far.
Bianca responded, “Tm on my way home. Are you at home?”
“L be back soon!”
“Alright, I’ve bought groceries. I’ll cook something delicious for you.”
Bianca’s words comforted Natalie somewhat, but she knew how Cedric was. With how he was treating
her now, there was no way he would spare her friends and family.
After ending the call with Bianca, Natalie looked out of the car window. She was unable to hide the hatred
burning in her eyes, and her face was pale.
In the end, she called her uncle.
Stephen quickly answered, “Nat!”
“Uncle, I need a lawyer.”
“Is there no one in Verde City who can handle this case for you?”
“There is, but Cedric…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but Stephen was a seasoned man and naturally understood the implications.
“Alright, I’ll have Mr Yancey fly over there today.”
“Okay,” Natalie replied.
Now that Bianca wasn’t able to help her manage her divorce, Natalie knew that no one else in this city would dare take her case.
After all, no one in Verde City was willing to offend the Johnson family.
When she arrived at the apartment, Natalie heard the sound of running water coming from the kitchen. She was surprised by how quickly Bianca had reached home. She changed her shoes and walked over to find Blanca standing by the sink. The basin was already full, and she stood there motionless.
Natalie approached and turned off the tap.
sacing her, Blanca smiled and said, “Oh, you’re back? Why don’t you get changed? We’ll have dinner
Though she said that, nothing had been cooked yet. Natalie looked at Bianca’s clothes and noticed the cardboard box on the dining table that Bianca had brought home.
There was a flash of guilt in her eyes as she said, “I’m sorry. I’ve caused you so much trouble.”
“You already know?” Bianca asked.
Natalie nodded. “Yes.”
“Did he threaten you?”
Natalie hesitated.
Who could have imagined that two people who were once deeply in love would reach a point where they
Natalie lowered her head and said, “Bia, don’t worry about my issues for now.”
To Bianca, Natalie was now a person without any family. If she didn’t help her, Cedric would probably torment her to no end.
Tears dripped onto the back of Bianca’s hand. She looked up to find Natalie crying!
“Oh dear! Are you feeling touched? If so, buck up and stand up for yourself! Let those people see that you’re not someone who depends on a man but a man who begged her to depend on him.”
is that amusing? Look, you’re so beautiful when you smile. Is it worth crying over a man?”
