Joy almost threw up right in front of her as soon as she heard those words.

How could someone be so pretentious? Acting all innocent and pure, looking pitiful on the outside, but speaking so aggressively, as if not agreeing with her would mean they had no compassion.
If she wasn’t worried about bringing trouble to Milly, she would’ve slammed the door in her face.
Joy, what’s wrong?”
A clear voice came from inside the room–it was Milly.
Holding back her disgust, Joy briefly described the situation. “Milly, Ms. Stephanie said she lost something valuable and wants to check our lounge.”
Milly stood up and walked to the door, glancing at the crowd outside with a hint of mockery in her eyes.
She had thought Stephanie might wait until she wrapped up filming to make a fuss, but it seemed she couldn’t hold back and had come to stir up trouble already.
And bringing so many people with her–it was clear she was determined to find something incriminating in her room.
Curling her lips into a smile, she said, “Ms. Stephanie, since you’ve lost something so important, I suggest you call the police. After all, this is their job, and given its high value, they would take it seriously.”
Stephanie persisted, “But calling the police would definitely have a negative impact on the crew. If word gets out, all of Mr. Hawkins’s effort on this film would be wasted.”
Those who were eager to curry favour with Stephanie because of her status as the Burnetts now began to side with her, criticising Milly who was blocking the door.
“Ms. Milly, just let Stephanie take a look. If you have nothing to hide, there’s nothing to fear. Stephanie is just anxious.”
“Yeah, that expensive bracelet is really important to her.”
“Whether it’s expensive or not, it’s still her property. Isn’t it normal to look for something lost? Why call the police for something that can be resolved on our own? That would just waste public resources.”
“Stephanie is being considerate and thinking about the bigger picture, unlike Milly who’s being so petty
“Yeah, and everyone else let her search their lounges except Milly. Maybe there’s really something fishy going on…
Milly was speechless.
Idiots were always around, but there seemed to be more this year than usual.
At this point, seeing that everyone had said enough, Stephanie started to act magnanimously. “Everyone, don’t say that about Milly. I believe Milly isn’t that kind of person.”
Milly raised an eyebrow.

Then someone in the crowd, eager to stir up trouble, chimed in, “If she has nothing to hide, why won’t she let us in? It’s obvious she’s guilty.”
Stephanie bit her lip and explained weakly, “Maybe Milly just doesn’t like people going through her stuff.
Her pitiful tone was perfectly executed, making her look even more sympathetic.
Joy was so angry at their sneaky insinuations that her eyes turned red.
Were these people brainless?
This lounge belonged to us, and now we were the bad guys for not letting anyone search it? Was there no justice left?
If Milly wanted one, Mr. Burnett could buy her a dozen!
“Milly, I don’t think we should involve the authorities to solve this little matter, right? If the police come and start searching our set, no matter who took it, it will impact the crew, don’t you think?”
Milly wasn’t buying it. She calmly analysed, “The law is strict and should be upheld. Anyone who breaks it should be punished. We can’t cover up a crime just because of a movie, right?
Stephanie went silent, a trace of malice flickering in her eyes.
It wasn’t her fault
ault if Milly wanted to walk right into the police investigation.
