After the man enters the kitchen, he opens the locker and is surprised to see that it is filled with all kinds of snacks.
There are indeed snacks.
But why would David buy them?
Louis checks the date of production on the bag one by one and chooses some that look delicious for Lily.
"When you are done eating, there are more in the locker, go get it yourself."
"Thank you." Lily is really hungry and doesn't stand on ceremony with him. She opens the potato chips and begins to eat. She also grabs the remote control from the coffee table, turns on the LCD TV and lies leisurely on the sofa.
The ragdoll jumps onto the sofa and nestles near her feet, while the German shepherd dog lies on the carpet and wags its tail.
Louis can't help smiling when he sees this scene.
Does this woman really take this place as her home?
Afraid that Lily will cry again if he says something improper, Louis tactfully sits down to deal with some business.
After he finishes replying several e-mails, David, who went to buy steamed buns in the heavy rain, returns.
Louis sees David come in with a few bags. He stops working and helps him. "I told you to get some buns. What did you buy? How can there be so many bags?"
"Mr. Smith, the store selling buns is closed. I can't buy any." David says as he takes his shoes off. "Fortunately, the supermarket was open. I went to buy flour and tofu. I'll make buns for you!"
Louis' eyes narrow. "You can?"
"Yes, I can make buns with any stuffing. I'm sure that Ms. Lily will enjoy it!"
"..."
Seeing Louis standing there motionless, David says, "Mr. Smith, don't stand in the way. It takes time to leaven the dough. After Ms. Lily eats the buns, I have to send her back. The rain is getting heavier and heavier. I don't know when it will stop."
"Then leave now." Louis snatches the bags from his hand. "You have to fly to Calgary tomorrow morning. Have a good rest after you get back."
David is dumbfounded. "Then I shall be leaving? How will Ms. Lily go back?"
"I'll send her back."
"No, no, Mr. Smith, let me do it. This is what I should do." David says as he walks into the house. "I also bought some pork. Does Ms. Lily like buns with meat stuffing? I'll make her some."
Louis still stands there with gloomy and spooky eyes. "David, if you find Calgary great, stay there for a few more months. Catherine can take your place."
The sinister voice frightens David and he finally realizes something wrong.
David changes his shoes and opens the door.
He disappears in less than three seconds.
Lily also hears the noise and runs over to Louis. She asks eagerly, "Did you buy buns with tofu stuffing?"
Seeing that there seems to be no buns in the bag in Louis’ hand, she is astounded.
"Where are the buns?"
Louis hesitates for a moment and says resignedly, "No, the store is closed."
Lily feels aggrieved and tears flow down her cheeks as she says, "Why is the store closed?"
Louis is speechless.
Damn it, how can he know the reason?
Lily can't stop crying, "It's fine to not buy me oranges, but you don't buy me any buns either! How can a grown-up man like you bully a woman...?"
"It's not that I won't buy you. The store is closed." Seeing that she is crying even more violently, Louis is at a loss. "Don't cry, I'll make some for you."
Lily stops crying and glances at him. "Only tofu stuffing, salty and spicy, no sugar."
