With the man's permission, Lily calls her assistant, "Ella, find the best lawyer in Yorkshire for me, and ask him to come to the police station."
"Ms. Lily, are you alright?" Ella asks in a worried tone.
"It's fine. I'm just accused of murdering a pregnant woman." Lily stays calm and replies indifferently, "I may not be able to return to the company for the time being. You should keep an eye on the new product."
"Also, call Brilliant Media. Find a stylist named Danica Gibson, and ask her to testify for me. Then call the Smith Group. Ask David to tell Mr. Smith about my detention."
Even if Willow has conclusive evidence, she wouldn't be convicted with Louis and Danica testifying for her.
Ella answers, "Okay, I'll go find a lawyer now!"
Hanging up the phone, Lily finds her hands sweating.
She has killed Willow's baby by accident. She wants to apologize and make amends.
But she should also protect herself.
If she loses the lawsuit and the news that she is pregnant and going to jail breaks, she'll be in trouble.
The trial date has not been set, so Lily is put in the detention cell with the women who also have not been convicted and are unable to be moved to another place.
Several women are packed into the detention cell. One of them is drunk and even leans against the wall to throw up.
Smelling the perfume mixed with the smell of vomit, Lily feels nauseous.
A woman comes over and asks Lily why she ends up here. Lily says something and then ignores the woman no matter what she says. So, the woman goes to someone else.
After the night, the man who interrogates Lily comes to the detention cell.
Lily is taken to a desk.
A man in a suit is sitting in a chair with his briefcase on the table. Lily figures that the man is probably the lawyer that Ella finds for her.
"Ms. Lily."
Seeing Lily, the lawyer gets up and shakes her hand, "I'm your defense lawyer. I'll spare no effort to help you. Please tell me everything."
Lily nods.
In the next 30 minutes, Lily tells the lawyer everything.
The lawyer stops taking notes and looks up at Lily. "Ms. Lily, may I ask who the father is?"
"Does it have anything to do with the case?"
"Yes." The lawyer says, "I heard that you were Mr. Louis' girlfriend. If he's the father, then I guess that he asks someone to put the blood-activating herbs in the duck soup."
Lily looks down and grabs her coat.
The lawyer continues, "Ms. Lily, if that's the case, you'll be totally innocent. You gave the duck soup to Ms. Roth without knowing. And Mr. Louis should be the one who's suspected of murdering a pregnant woman...."
"I broke up with him a long time ago." Lily interrupts the lawyer and says calmly, "My fiancé works in Country R. The herbs may have been accidentally put into the duck soup by the cook."
The lawyer rubs his chin, 'It makes sense. Some hotels like putting these expensive things in their soups to improve the flavor."
"So, it has nothing to do with Mr. Louis?"
"Yes."
Lily doesn't want to worry about it. She only hopes that Louis testifies for her.
Learning what's happened, the lawyer closes his laptop's lid, "I will go find something in L City. If Danica and Louis are willing to testify for you, we'll probably win the case."
"Alright. Thanks." What the lawyer says is basically the same as Lily has expected.
As long as they can testify, she'll be able to get free.
But right after the lawyer leaves, something happens.
First, the police officer tells her that the trial will start in ten days.
Lily feels sad and disturbed and doesn't want to continue the conversation, so he hangs up after telling Ella what to do.
Dinner is late today, and the food is a little cold.
Some women in the detention cell are dissatisfied with the cold food and ask the police officer to warm it up.
The officer says with impatience that they should be grateful for the free food, and then goes away.
Lily eats some cold rice and feels that her stomach is upset, so she doesn't eat any more.
There is noise around her. Later, she is standing trial in the dock. No one testifies for her, and she is convicted of murder.
The judge receives the report of her pregnancy and decides that she can be released on bail pending trial and is going to jail after giving birth.
When she leaves the police station, she becomes a murderer in everyone's eyes.
She loses her reputation and her job. And there is no one who can help her.
She runs desperately and gets on the nearest bus, trying to escape from this place.
The light in the bus is dim and there are only few people.
The windows are tightly shut, and Lily feels as if the air were taking away bit by bit.
Gradually, she finds it difficult to breathe. She wants to smash the window, so she reaches for the safety hammer.
Then, she wakes up.
Someone covers her nose and mouth and presses against her hands and feet.
Terrified, Lily becomes fully awake.
She struggles desperately, trying to pull out her hands, but the person keeps pressing them. She's about to lose consciousness.
