Jessie thinks Dahlia calls, so she answers.
"Miss Jessie." The voice doesn't belong to Dahlia or Chace.
Apparently, the call is from neither of them.
Hearing the person has clearly said her name, Jessie asks with a frown, "Who is this?"
"It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is what I am about to say." The man on the other side of the phone chuckles. "You're having a good time in Country Y. Do you know that your uncle and aunt died long ago?"
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Jessie snaps. "I don't know where you got my name, but I don't know you. My uncle and aunt are alive and well. They are not your concern!"
"Miss Jessie," the man says slowly, "weren't you curious about how your uncle got beaten?"
"What do you mean?"
"It means that I know everything. I sympathize with you so I want to tell you the truth." The man pauses for a moment, and his cold voice whispers slowly.
"You didn't know, right? Mr. Leigh gave us the address. He told us to find Charlie and ask him where you are. Mr. Leigh also told us that to get the answer, we could do anything to force him."
The man sighs, "We didn't want to go too far, but the boss gave the order. We didn't have a choice. I secretly sent you a text message to ask you to go there, or your uncle would be finished."
"I just didn't expect your aunt to be hit by a car. That was not our doing."
"Nonsense! Shut up! Shut up!" Jessie's hand holding the phone is trembling. She says calmly, "My uncle and aunt are taken care of. Stay out of our business."
She hurriedly hangs up the phone, but because of the man's words, she is still panicking, afraid that what he said is true.
Jessie wants to call Lily, but dumbfounded, she can't even remember Lily's phone number.
Holding the phone, she thinks hard. Just then, the phone vibrates again.
It's the same man's voice. "Miss Jessie, I felt sorry. I happened to know your phone number, so I called you. If you don't believe what I just told you, you can confirm it with someone from Yorkshire."
Jessie calmly asks, "Who is Mr. Leigh?"
"Miss Jessie, stop kidding. Don't you know who Mr. Leigh is and why he sent us to your uncle's?"
Leigh Lewis?
Jessie hangs up the phone, dumbfounded, and thinks it's impossible.
Even if Leigh Lewis couldn't find her, he wouldn't be so heartless as to attack her uncle and aunt.
However, she remembers that a long time ago, Leigh Lewis threatened fiercely that if she dared to run away, he would hurt her uncle and aunt.
"Jessie, don't think I'm joking. There's nothing I won't do!"
The man's threat still rings in her ears. A chill runs through her body. She activates her voice assistant and calls Chace, her hands trembling uncontrollably.
She bites her finger forcefully to force herself to calm down, while waiting for Chace to answer the phone.
"What's the matter?"
"Mr. Leon, could you ... help me investigate two people?" Jessie's voice trembles. "One is called Charlie, the other is called ... Their ID numbers are...."
Chace senses something wrong with her tone and hurriedly asks, "Sure, I'll put someone on it right away. Are you alright?"
"I ... I'm fine." Jessie forces herself to calm down. "If you find anything, please let me know."
Chace comforts her. "Noted. Don't panic."
