Chapter 397
Fortune’s p.o.v.

Not once since we shifted for the first time have I felt the urge to force a shift, but the events from the past week or so have put me on edge.

Our so-called Mother has been driving us up the wall for years, she was either bad mouthing our Father or putting us down without knowing it. She would always complain about the fact that Dad’s Lycan was treating her bad, that he never cared for her or her Wolf and don’t get me started about her opinion on Lycans in general.

Lycans are savages in my Mother’s book, right there with Rogues on the same page. No matter how often we asked she wouldn’t tell us why she hated Lycans so much, but maybe it was because she couldn’t tell us.

We gave up a long time ago to get an answer to that question and way before that we gave up hope on having any kind of relationship with our Mother, it is the way it is.

I love living in a Pack, especially in Blood Crescent Pack because of how huge the territory is and I enjoy running through the forest. I don’t want anyone near me at the moment, I am afraid I will hurt them and none of our Pack-members are responsible for my anger.

I growl at every Warrior I spot, but for some reason they are smart enough to stay clear of me and I keep running along the border at high speed.

“Fortune.” Maleah yells in my head and I can smell the penetrating scent of Rogues.

“Six of them at the eastern border, the nearest Warriors are too far off and I can sense a handful of Pups.” Maleah tells me and I make a beeline for the eastern border. We can’t access the Pack’s mind-link, but I make sure I move close enough to a Warrior for Maleah to use her gift and he nods his head before his eyes glaze over.

I manage to reach the Rogues before they could cross our border and I see four, very young Pups near a tree and I feel my anger spike when I realize there is no adult around.

I stalk towards the Rogues but their eyes are focused on the four Pups, the moment I release my aura their attention moves in my direction and the fear is clear to see in their eyes. I growl at them as I moves closer towards them and every now and then one of them lets his eyes drift towards the Pups.

“Pack-members are approaching.” Maleah tells me and I take a good look at my surroundings, I want to make sure we can capture at least one of them and I know Maleah will take great pleasure in getting answers from him.

One of the Rogues tilts his head to the left as we can hear the pounding of paws coming our way, our Warriors are still at a safe distance but it also means Maleah can’t warn them about the Pups and we will hold them of until the others show up.

I growl as one of the Rogues tries to move towards the Pups, but it isn’t until I release a bit of my aura that he backs up and at the moment I see all six of them look behind me.

“The Cavalry just arrived.” Maleah says mockingly and I notice that the Rogues are starting to back off.

“No way in hell. They are mine.” I growl as I tell Maleah to warn Dad about the Pups and I decide to take down the biggest of them, he seems to be their leader.

“Dad, they are after the Pups. Four of them are near the tree behind you.” I hear Maleah say as I lunge towards my target and he is so baffled by my action I have him pinned to the ground in seconds, I don’t even give him the change to react as I release even more of my aura.

My aura forces him to shift back to his Human form and I can feel someone approaching me from behind, “Fortune, I need to put cuffs on him. Can you step aside, Dear?” I hear behind me, followed by an aggressive growl.
