"Wait a second!" I said through my confusion. "What are you talking about?"
"So, as I was not saying because you interrupted me-" She started.
I wasn't about to hear this. "No bloody introductions. Get to the point." I glared at her. She gulped.
"Jason, you're my assigned bodyguard." She said. That bad? "You're going to be late for your date. Simple as that."
"Define a date," I demanded. Maybe it wasn't what I was thinking about. Maybe it was just my mind playing tricks. Maybe...
"Wait a sec," Tommy said. "Let me consult Google the know-it-all!" He took out his phone. What was going on with the world? Was this because of pollution? Was there some disease making people dumb?! "Ookay, so, Google said 'A date a noun used to describe an audition for sex.'"
"Did you seriously just say that?" Sky guffawed while I was thunderstruck.
Panic mode on! "Whatever the heck going on? Did you set me on a blind date? Online dating? Louis? What did you do? Because right now I'm panicking and my imagination is going wild. So, talk." Before I go crazy I wanted to add. I loudly fussed going through my thoughts like a kite through a gale.
"You're impossible, Eli" So now, I was the impossible one! "How could you think I would ever do that. I mean come on." She said sounding innocent but for her bad luck, I knew her too well. Nothing is strange when it comes to her!
"Sky, I'm taking over-explaining," Jason said. Finally! A decent person!
"As if you can do better." She mocked.
"The thing is, the guys are spending the day together. Sky is going to a party so you'll stay alone." What? How was that even related to a date? I raised my brow waiting for him to answer my questions. "The point is, you can take a tour around the city and Ron asked if we wanted to join him but we weren't free so you can go with him."
"No, you must go." She interrupted. Of course, she'd say that! "I can't wait for your wedding!"
Thank God I wasn't drinking anything or else... it would have been flying out of my mouth... instead I nearly choked.
"What wedding, you crazy?"
"Never mind, now go get ready for the date."
"It's technically not a date, Sky." Jason murmured. That was exactly what I wanted to say. This was not a date!!
"Don't rain on my parade." She said. "Both of you." She said more firmly.
They thought I'd do whatever they tell me! Oh, hell no! I as a strong-willed woman would never do what others tell me. I do what I want only!
"Kay, I'm going," I said. Internally smiling. The guy was really growing on me.
"Yuppie! Now change because he's waiting at the lodge." Sky said. Looked like panic mode wouldn't be turned off any time soon!
"And you're telling me now!" I squinted my eyes at her. Trying to look threatening.
She looked unfazed. "Eli, I've been trying to tell you for twenty minutes to get ready." She called that an excuse?!
I decided to go with a Miami outfit. A two-piece beach dress in blue and white. Like the waves in the sea fluttering in the wind. With two slits from mid-thigh to my ground. I looked hot!
"So where are we going?" I asked Ron the moment I spotted him. I wasn't a woman who wasted time in small talks.
"Getting ice cream!" He replied with an easy grin which I returned. That guy would melt my heart.
