Chapter 76
Carl quickly dug up the info and shot it over to Yvan’s inbox. As soon as Yvan clicked on the email, his eyes locked onto the name “Adrian“, and his body jolted as if struck by lightning.
Adrian, of all people!
Yvan’s fingers clenched one by one. It seemed someone was itching for a showdown.
Meanwhile, Matilda’s phone buzzed with yet another unknown caller. These days, mystery callers were a dime a dozen, overwhelming her. She sighed deeply and answered, only to be greeted by a haughty, triumphant voice.
Matilda recognized that person at once; it was Evie.
“How do you like the little present I sent your way?” Evie gloated from the other end.
Matilda’s voice turned icy, “Did you take those sneaky shots of me with the Simpson family’s eldest son?”
“Oh, the Simpson family’s eldest son.” Evie cooed mockingly, “Look at you, Matilda, playing the field with Mr. Boyd on one hand and getting cozy with the Simpson heir. I underestimated you.”
Matilda snorted, “What’s this call really about?”
“Ha–ha!” Evie’s laughter boomed from the other side, fearless, “I’m waiting for you to beg me not to leak more pictures to the press. I’ve got even juicier scoops here! Your reputation was trashed five years ago, Matilda. Imagine the talk if this gets out now. They’ll say you’re nothing but a lowlife, a tramp!”
Evie’s insults flew like arrows, laced with every vile word under the sun, “How does it feel to be blacklisted by Mr. Boyd, huh? He’s got taste, not going for someone like you. Whoever takes a fancy to you would be doomed. You’ve probably been played out by the Simpson heir already, haven’t you? Drop the act, Matilda. How am I any less than you? At least my thought’s cleaner than yours!”
The barrage of verbal attacks reached Matilda, her face somewhat paling, but she gripped the phone tightly, not letting any panic show. She knew better than to give Evie the satisfaction.
After the insult, Evie kept on, “Why so silent, huh? Cat got your tongue? Poor you, haha…”

However, Matilda actually laughed.
The sound of her nonchalance fueled Evie’s rage, “What’s so funny? You think you can compare to me? You…”
