Shawn's crimes were so blatant that as soon as authorities began their investigation, evidence surfaced effortlessly.

Shawn was not only involved in drugs, gambling, and prostitution but there were even rumors linking him to arms trafficking. These were crimes severe enough to be utterly damning.

When Lucas discovered what his son was doing, he was so infuriated that he wanted to beat the hell out of him. This son of his was a massive disgrace to him and his family.

When Lucas secretly visited Shawn at the detention center, he discovered that Shawn was no longer as arrogant as he used to be. Like a frightened dog, he kneeled before his father, desperately begging for redemption. "Dad, I beg you, please ask Grandpa to save me. No matter what, you have to get me out of here."

"You good-for-nothing animal! You've brought this upon yourself!" Lucas furiously slapped Shawn a few times and then left.

Even though his son was stupid, Lucas couldn't just sit and watch his son go down.

After leaving the detention center and deep contemplation, he finally called Linkhaven City. "Dad, how have you been?"

"I'm good. Are you calling about what happened?" A deep voice rang through the phone. Lucas' father, Theodore Cort, was a man who once held even higher authority than Lucas in the province.

"Yes," Lucas respectfully answered. "This matter had blown out of proportion. An investigation team had been dispatched."

"Sigh, I told you to keep an eye on your son. Your son's misdeeds have finally caught up to him, huh?" Theodore's voice sounded exceptionally haggard, laced with heartache.
