Sean slowly walked toward the ICU, where John was moved after surgery.

His vitals were weak, and the doctors said that he would either live or never wake up.

It all depended on the patient—his fate was now beyond the realm of medical knowledge.

Sean quietly watched him, not quite able to describe how he felt.

Perhaps he found it a waste—he had come to admire John a long time ago, as he genuinely found the man to be a genius. He really would have liked to work with John and even entrust him the future of the Cranstons.

But now, he lay on the bed in the ICU ward, his fate unknown.

Sean sighed—whatever happened to John now, there were things he must do for the man, such as bringing Richard over to keep him company.

This might be the last time Richard got to see his father, after all.

Patrick stayed at the hospital for a week.

Aside from the broken ribs, he had no other issues—his heart was fine too, which the doctors described as a blessing in disguise.

Cordy stayed with him every day and was basically inseparable from him.

Sean visited often too, though he would be standing outside the ward and would never impose on Patrick or Cordy.

Sean would often go in to speak with John too, though he mostly spoke about serious matters.

For example, he had already submitted the evidence John obtained to the authorities and pulled strings to ensure that the Lynds would be brought to justice. The key figures of the Lynd family had since been arrested under criminal charges and were pending trial.

Compelled by public opinion, the authorities would have to arrange for the trial to be held sooner, and if there were no surprises, the Lynds' influence would be utterly crushed in time.

It was now fated that the family be written out of history pages, and they would no longer be a threat to everyone.

As for Nana, she remained comatose—no different from John's condition after he rescued her from the fire.

The doctors gave her the same diagnosis: she had less chance of regaining consciousness the more time passed, and she could either end up in a vegetative state or worse, lose her life.
