Chapter 44
Mandy froze, well and truly stunned by John’s intimidating demeanor.
However, she threw all caution in the wind and started screaming the next instant.
“John Levine, do you think Cordy Sachs is some sort of treasure? You’ve just returned to the country, so you wouldn’t know of her debauchery-but she already started sleeping around at eighteen, and even had a child! She even refused to break up with my brother, and shamelessly latched her fingers on you! Don’t fall for her trap!”
“That’s Cordy Sachs? Amazing. She actually managed to hook up with Mr. Levine so quickly!”
“Didn’t someone say her gown was worth a billion dollars? She really spared no expense to seduce a man.”
“Didn’t his son call her mommy? Did she bewitch the boy too?”
“She really is a succubus…”
Mandy smiled smugly even as everyone mocked Cordy-she was bent on humiliating Cordy, so that John would understand what Cordy was really like!
She would never believe that John could accept Cordy after knowing all that, just as she would never allow Cordy to have him!
However, John said coldly and with a threatening tone, “She was set up when she was eighteen, and circumstances forced her to deliver that child. It’s her misfortune-not her fault. And she deserves sympathy and comfort for her tragic past, not malicious slander and contempt!”
“No!” Mandy cried out in agitation. “Don’t be tricked! She’s a loose woman-”
John cut her short right then, and declared every word sonorously, “From this day forth, anyone. who speaks against Cordy Sachs will be my enemy! And I can assure everyone that I, John Levine, never ever show mercy!”
All the gossipers around them gasped and turned silent, genuinely afraid that John would go them.

“As for what’s between Cordy and Kyle Jessop…” John said, raising a brow at the Jessops. “Do I have to spell it out for you?!”
Startled for a moment, Dandy promptly gathered himself and said, “I’m sorry! I failed to discipline my daughter and she’s caused you offense! I’ll take her home right now. Please forgive us, we’ll go now!”
With that, he gruffly dragged Mandy out of the hall-they really had no dignity to speak of now!
“Wait,” John called out.
Dandy promptly stopped fearfully and turned toward John.
“My son just said that she ruined Cordy’s clothes.”
