Chapter 60
Alena
“Can you hear me, Alena?” Someone asked and I started to look around, seeing familiar faces. However, the man in a white coat stood out the most as he tried to ask about my condition; he had a light pointed at my eyes a few minutes ago.
I nodded, blinking a few times.
As soon as my gaze landed on Matteo, I felt calmer. He was standing near the wall with both of his hands in his jeans’ pockets, eyeing my every movement. I had wished for him to stand closer to me and held my hand but I understood we weren’t in the best terms before this whole tragedy happened.
When I woke up thirty minutes ago, I felt an intense pain on my abdomen area. Apparently, I had a broken rib and a fractured arm. Luckily enough, they were treated and I just needed to get enough rest for a few more weeks until they were fully healed.
My body was sore and I knew it was from all the beatings I took.
“Good, you’re aware.” The doctor said, “I’ll give you two some time.”
The doctor walked out of the room, along with Luca and Angelo. They seemed relieved when I woke up and it was nice to finally feeling safe with the people I knew; I was worried if they weren’t able to find me but I had high hopes.
It was just odd not seeing Papa, I had thought he would be here.
Matteo continued to stand at the same spot as he watched me, as if waiting for my consent before he could make his way towards me. It felt weird to see him acting that way because I knew I had imagined him to run after me in an embrace,
“Hi,” I muttered under my breath, looking at him.
“Hey,” he replied.
“Come sit with me,”
Within seconds, he began to make his way towards me before sitting near my feet. Even though we were closer with each other now, I still felt as if we were miles apart.
I slowly reached out for his hand, missing the feeling of his skin.
I was scared if he pulled away but he didn’t. As soon as our skins touch, I pulled him the wrist, trying to lessen the distance between us and just like that, we were close enough to hug.
Matteo was careful not to wrap his arms around me too tight as I hugged him. My eyes were closed from the amount of comfort I felt-it felt nice, being in his arms after being apart for so long. I had missed his scent, his touch and his warmth.
“I missed you,” I breathed, snuggling close.
He sighed before kissing the top of my head, “I missed you, too!
I looked up into his eyes and I remembered how I used to stare into them. They were the perfect shade of brown and they resembled the softness he had towards me. Yet, I couldn’t shrug off the dark circles under them, knowing he hadn’t been getting enough sleep.
My heart broke when I first saw him on screen. He was miserable.

My hand went up to reach out for his face and as soon as I touched him, he began to surrender himself into touch. He went in to kiss my hand and that was it for me, I had realised just how much I longed for this. How much I had missed my

husband.
How foolish of me to think I could be away from him.
I could never be away from Matteo. He was the air I breathed.
“I’m sorry, Matteo. I’m really sorry,” I said.
“Shh, don’t be. Don’t apologise to me, Alena.”
“This was all my fault. This all happened because of me.”
He shook his head, “It’s not your fault, baby”
“Don’t say that. You know it’s my fault.”
He grabbed both of my hands before kissing them, “It doesn’t matter anymore. I would never blame you for what happened, Alena. You’re safe now and that’s all that matters. You don’t have to think about what happened anymore, okay?”
I frowned, “What about the situation I put you in? The weeks you went out looking for me?”
“As I should because I’m your husband. I worry about your safety,” he replied.
“And I took that for granted. What if you didn’t find me? What if you found me but it was too late? What if our endings turned out different?”
“None of that happened, Alena. I found you and it wasn’t too late.”
I leaned back, “How can you still be nice to me?”

I was an ungrateful person and I didn’t deserve to be with a man like him.
Yet, he stayed patient. He waited.
“What do you mean?” He asked, rubbing the back of my hand.
“You have every right to be mad at me. Why aren’t you?”
It took me by surprise when he leaned in, tucking a few strands of hair behind my ear before slowly kissing my lips. The kiss was short but it was a reminder that no matter what happened, we belonged together.
Through thick and thin. Together.
Then, he went to kiss

“You have to be mad at me, Matteo. It’s how you
should react.”
“That’d be a waste of time, baby. I was upset when you left but I knew you had every reason to validate your feelings.” He continued to caress the side of my face as he spoke, “You’re right, I should be mad at you but looking at you, I’m only grateful that you’re here.”
My eyes began to water, “You don’t hate me?”
“Far from it. I’m always in love with you,”

Just like that, I went in to kiss his lips. They were as soft as I remembered and I had missed the feeling of his tongue playing with mine; we were two adults who went through a lot in our lives and the only thing we deserved was pure happiness.
I felt warm when he returned the kiss and we were locked in each other’s embrace.
Matteo was gentle with his touches because he didn’t want me to be in pain. I seemed like a fool for leaning in and kissing him, passionately. It didn’t matter because I wanted to show him how much I missed him, how much I loved him and how much I craved his presence.
We were separated for too long because of my foolish decision.
We broke the kiss and I was gasping for air, “I miss you too much
He chuckled, “I miss you more. So, so, so much more.”
I leaned against his forehead as I held onto his hands, scared if he was going to disappear. The past few weeks without him was terrifying, especially when I was kidnapped-the thing Matteo was afraid of became a reality and if it weren’t for Luca and his other men, I was probably still laying in that shitty room.
Alone. Freezing. Hurt.
“I can’t wait to go home,” I muttered.
“You just need to stay here for a couple more days. Then, we’ll go home, okay?”
“I want to go home tonight, Matteo.”
“Alena…”
“Please, I’ll rest better at home with you by my side.”
Matteo took a few seconds as he stared into my eyes, probably thinking of ways to say no but instead, he nodded and continued to kiss my lips; we were close with each other and I never wanted to let go anymore.
I belonged with him. I belonged in his arms.
He bit my lower lip before sliding his tongue, making me moan.
The wet dreams were starting to get to me because they weren’t dreams to begin with. They were good memories of what had happened during our times together. I could never deny the fact that Matteo was a masterpiece in bed, he knew how to pleasure me and he knew he wasn’t ever going to disappoint.
Yet, he was being careful with his kisses even though I knew he wanted to take me here. Right now.
I broke the kiss, “I’m wet.”
He raised an eyebrow, “You are?”
“Mm, you’re making me wet.”
“We can’t right now. You’ll get hurt,”
“The painkillers are really good.”
He smirked, “Only for a little while. You’ll start to feel pain again once they wear off,”
“I know you. You’ll be gentle with me.”
“Alena… not now.”

“Please, Matteo. I want you to make me come.”
“But, we have to talk afterwards. Promise?”
“I promise.”

Then, he went in to kiss me again. One of his hand reached down to my hospital gown and it didn’t take him long to find my wetness. I didn’t wear anything underneath and he just needed to lift the gown to touch me.
I moaned softly, leaning back on the bed.
Matteo had placed his hand on my mouth, trying to prevent me from being too loud. As his fingers went to circle my c**t, he knew the movement made me crazy. My eyes rolled up when he inserted a finger and I was already on cloud nine.
I playfully sucked his thumb and I could see the lust in his eyes, too.
Apparently, he was just good at holding himself back.
My legs were slightly spread apart as he continued to pleasure me, rubbing my

Matteo didn’t wait any longer as he continued the same pace with the same movement and before I knew it, my legs began to shake in pleasure as I let out a moan. It was apparently a bit too loud because the pressure of his hand against my mouth increased, trying to cover up the sound.
I closed my eyes as I rode the waves of pleasure, loving how he never failed to please me.
I watched intensely as he licked his fingers, sucking them dry.
“Do you think they heard us?” I asked, my cheeks feeling hot.
“They’d be deaf not to.”
