A Mate For The Last Lycan novel Chapter 125

Chapter 125: SANCTITY OF THE MATE BOND

If Caiden and Gayle were ill at ease with Zuri, they didn’t show it. Only Khaos, who knew about their concern about her. Thing was complicated with Zuri now.

Not only her status as the widowed of alpha Xaden, who staged a coup against the royal along with her father, but also the fact she was one of the lycan’s legacies. She was valuable thing for them and this fact had not been known for all of Khaos’s supporter yet.

Some of them were still against him taking her as his mate, despite the king had blessed their union.

"Thrice? That’s a nice number." Caiden grinned at Gayle, who threw him a dagger look, but once Zuri and Khaos walked away and out of earshot, both of their expression turned serious. "How is she?"

"She is..." Gayle furrowed his brows, trying to find the right word to say. "The alpha is right, she has a natural killing instinct." He looked uncomfortable. "She can be dangerous. Do you think it is alright to leave her with the alpha? Sometime... I caught her talking to herself."

"She will not harm Khaos," Caiden stated. He didn’t know in detail, but he was sure of that. The attachment between the Shell and the lycan would protect Khaos, though it was not like he needed any protection.

However, Gayle’s concern was valid. Zuri could have snapped and whatever hallucination she was in, she could accidentally harmed Khaos.

It could be backfired at Khaos too for having Zuri trained and strengthened her. Her natural killing intense was already scary enough, since it was a rare talent and with training she could be lethal.

"I hope the alpha will be able to control her," Gayle said. "She is really a beast even when she is in her human form."

The only reason why Gayle was still able to handle her was because Zuri’s condition was still concerning, she was still underweight. Her habit of vomiting made her unable to have her full strength.

"I believe Khaos knew what he is doing." Caiden was more worried of Bryden and his father’s reaction when they learned about this.

His parents were not a fan of Zuri since the beginning and the beta didn’t really like her. In their mind, if Zuri could betray her own mate and her pack, she could do the same to Khaos. They shouldn’t associate themselves with someone like her.

They were furious when they learned that Zuri knew about the fact that Khaos was the last lycan, which was understandable.

The sun was almost set when Zuri and Khaos reached the pack house, but instead of going to the dining hall, Zuri took him somewhere else.

"I want to show you my favorite place in this pack house. Come with me."

"I thought you are hungry."

"It will not take long, come on!" Zuri grabbed his hand and then took him to the back of the building, where there was a rusty spiral stairs that would lead you to the attic.

"Before, they used the attic for hawk messengers, but they moved it somewhere else and now the attic is empty." Zuri climbed the stairs happily, which was a rare sight to see recently, thus Khaos didn’t object, he followed her to climb the stairs. "It has been a while since the last time I visited this spot. We need to hurry, the sight from there when sunset is incredible."
