Chapter 20: JEALOUSY AND MURDEROUS INTENTION

There was bad blood between the River Creek pack and Khaos two years ago and as far as Zuri knew, Khaos killed one of the elders in the pack. It was enough to warrant a death sentence, but somehow, he managed to leave with his head still intact, and now he has returned.

Therefore, Zuri was a little bit taken aback when she heard his blatant offer.

"You can call me, Khaos."

"I can't do that," Zuri replied politely and then walked toward the white wolf. "Is it yours?"

"Hm." He squatted down and touched the wolf's head, as the creature stirred and nuzzled against his touch. "Mackenzie Gracelyn Mordechai the third."

"What?" Zuri frowned.

"His name." Khaos looked over his shoulder and grinned at her.

Zuri was a second too late to realize that he was talking about the white wolf. "He has a very... unique name." She was not sure how to respond to that and why she was in this situation. But, because he knew the white wolf's name, it meant he was the owner.

"You can call him, Mac."

"It's lovely." Zuri looked around her, there were two warriors on the side road.

"Do you have a pet?" Khaos stood up, as the wolf stood on all fours beside him.

"No." What the hell? Zuri tried to figure out what he wanted from this whole conversation, but she couldn't find any clue.

It was not like they were on speaking terms before this. Aside from a polite nod or two before his two years punishment, they had never really interacted.

But then, it clicked in her mind and Zuri straightened her back, her voice was a little bit more formal than usual. "Is there something that you want from me, Prince Khaos?"

The prince was unfazed with the sudden formality. He still wore that smirk on his lips, but it was his eyes that caught her attention. She had never seen gray eyes before.

"As expected of the mastermind behind the glory of the River Creek pack." His smile became less genuine and his gray eyes were slightly darker. "Do you want to strike a deal with me?"

Zuri was stunned. Only a handful of people knew that she was the actual mastermind behind all the business deals that had brought fortune to the River Creek pack.

That was why her father always looked at her in disappointment, not because she was a useless child, but simply because she didn't have a cock between her legs, so he could pass the title to her, since his three sons were incapable of carrying such a huge responsibility. freewebnoveℓ.com

"I don't know what you are talking about, Prince Khaos." No one should know about this. If she was surprised, she didn't show it on her face when she spoke again delicately. "I am just a woman. I think you should direct your compliment to my father, since he is the one who brought glory to the pack."
