Everly knew that she could not hide her return from anyone.
But she didn't expect them to find her so fast.
Now her brother Hendrix came here with Edmond.
And it was so embarrassing when they saw her come out of a strange man's room.
Everly remembered that she was pressed against the door by the bastard. She even groaned loudly.
Damn. Did they hear it?
No, they must not!
Everly looked at her brother and son. She just felt extremely awkward.
Hendrix asked first, "What are you doing here?"
But Edmond looked very happy. Before Everly replied, he took his hand back from Hendrix and ran to Everly. "Mommy, I saw you come out of there. Do you know the man inside?"
Everly was stunned. Then, Hendrix pulled her and whispered, "We need a talk after going back to your room."
Everly did not want to stay at the door. So, she brought them back to her room.
After Edmond got in the room, he continued the topic. "Mommy, do you remember the handsome man I mentioned? I wanted to introduce you to him, but I didn't expect you have known him. What's his name?"
Everly frowned. She seemed to remember something important.
So, the handsome man Edmond had been talking about from the airport was Maverick upstairs?
That was it!
She knew that she had met the man who sent Edmond back twice. Now she finally remembered that he was Maverick's right-hand man.
What was his name?
...
"Everly, I'm talking to you. What are you thinking?" Hendrix suddenly spoke, pulling Everly back to reality.
Everly could almost remember the man's name!
It was on the tip of her tongue. But Hendrix called her and she forgot everything.
"Hendrix. I went there for work."
Everly continued, "But how did you know I was back so soon?"
"If I didn't come, would you just return to the US after you finish your so-called work?"
Hendrix was unhappy as he sorted his collar.
Only then did Everly notice that Hendrix was dressed in a suit. His black hair was combed well. It was obvious that he came here from a meeting or a dinner party.
Everly turned to look at Edmond. "Edmond, you told him?"
Edmond made a grimace. "He called me, so I said told him."
Hendrix rubbed Edmond's head and said softly, "Edmond, do you want to go home tomorrow to see grandfather and grandmother?"
Edmond thought for a moment. "Uncle Hendrix, can I stay here?"
"Of course," Hendrix said, "But your grandfather hasn't seen you in years. You might want to see him tomorrow. He's going to have a surgery."
Everly was about to drink water when she heard this. Then she stopped. "What happened to Dad?"
Hendrix looked at her. "He has heart attacks all the time. He'll take a bypass surgery in a few days. Don't make Dad angry again. He has been hoping that you come back."
Everly fell silent.
Edmond was a little kid. He had been asking about Maverick upstairs. But due to jet lag, he fell asleep soon. Everly put Edmond on the bed and asked Hendrix, "Then I'll go to the hospital tomorrow?"
Hendrix agreed. He looked around and then said, "You can also move back home tomorrow. What projects did you bring back this time?"
