Fleur felt her face burning with embarrassment, acutely aware of the many eyes fixed upon her. She knew people were surely mocking her. Calliope was not the daughter-in-law she wanted; she had ended up with a fool instead.
Not only foolish but also malicious!
She wouldn’t have minded Yvette doing something to Calliope, but not so publicly, not exposing herself like this!
It was just too stupid. Even if something needed to be done, this wasn't it. Her actions were akin to running naked down Main Street.
"Smack!"
A sharp slap landed across Yvette's cheek.
Fleur glared at her furiously, "I've seen stupidity, but none quite like yours! You're dumber than a sack of rocks!"
Her chest heaved with anger, "The baby you're carrying is not even viable, yet you dared to claim you're having our grandchild?"
"I'm sorry!" Yvette was now genuinely scared. The wedding had progressed to this point. She was terrified the Baker family would reject her.
She shot a hateful glance in Calliope’s direction, never expecting Calliope to be so underhanded, managing to capture everything on camera.
"Mom, I'm sorry, I didn’t mean to! I was just afraid that the baby wouldn’t make it, and I didn’t want to disappoint you!"
"I didn't know what to do, I know you’re not fond of me, so I was terrified of losing you and Gideon, I resorted to deception!"
Yvette fell to her knees, pleading with Fleur through her tears.
"Mom, please, don’t blame me, I’ll try to conceive Gideon’s child as soon as possible! Believe me, I’ll be pregnant again in no time!"

That's weird, in the first chapters there was said that her bio parents and bros doteď on Caliope but then they adopted Lisette, but this chapter suddenly says otherwise. Did author forget what he wrote?...
