A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 434

She really needed to head out, so she started upstairs to change her clothes.

Gideon and Yvette stood there, clueless about Calliope's intentions. They hadn't heard her say yes, so they refused to leave just yet.

Calliope quickly changed and came back down. Seeing the two still there, she said casually, "If you guys aren't leaving, then I am."

"Callie!" Gideon pleaded earnestly, "Can't you help me out? For old times' sake, when you really liked me? Please? I know Uncle Silas is thinking about changing his successor, but Calista is still young! I'm the most suitable! Please, talk to him!"

Calliope gave Gideon a quick glance. "I actually think Calista is quite suitable."

Gideon's face fell instantly. "What do you mean by that? Are you saying I'm less capable than a high schooler?"

Calliope nodded. "Calista is more qualified to manage the Baker Group. Silas isn't blind—he can see it. If I can see it, surely he can too.

Gideon, your real concern shouldn't be whether you'll become the head of the Baker Group. It's whether you're even going to remain there much longer! Silas has been more than lenient with you. He hasn't even kicked you out of the company!"

Calliope chuckled lightly. "From what I know, he doesn't keep dead weight around!"

Gideon's face turned even darker. "Are you calling me dead weight?"

"If you're begging me for help, how are you any different? If you weren't dead weight, you'd be proving yourself to Silas on your own."

Calliope slipped on her shoes, turned and headed for the door.

Yvette, fuming, lunged at Calliope, but Calliope easily caught her wrist.

"Yvette, instead of losing your temper here, maybe you should go take care of your health! You might want to ask your doctor if you'll ever be able to have kids."
