A Reborn Bride Pearl Emerging from Dust novel Chapter 515

Calliope said softly, “You know, you really feel like one of those friends I’ve known forever. I bet you see me like a little sister, don’t you?”

Hudson met her gaze, pausing for a long moment. Finally, he let out a sigh, surrendering to the inevitable.

“Alright,” he said, voice gentle. “Let’s have you talk to my doctor. Maybe you’ll see something we missed.”

To be honest, he was doing this as much for himself as for her. He knew Calliope would never let it rest otherwise—she’d worry herself sick.

“Let’s head to the hospital,” he said, managing a half-hearted grin. “I’m gonna go change real quick. You might want to grab your things too.”

“Okay.” Calliope nodded, relief flickering in her eyes. Still, she felt as if someone had wrapped icy fingers around her heart. She was deeply worried about Hudson. The signs were all there: the cancer had spread to his brain. At this stage, time was running out, and surgery was off the table.

She needed to look at his scans herself. If there was even a sliver of hope for surgery, she’d do it herself, no matter what. And if not, she’d do everything she could to ease his pain.

Hudson reappeared, dressed and ready. He shot Calliope a crooked smile. “Ready?”

“You sure you can drive?” he asked. “My head’s been killing me lately. I don’t think I should get behind the wheel.”
