Chapter 880
Florence passed a glass of water to Suki.
Primrose turned around and asked Sage, “What happened?”
Sage pursed her lips and looked at Suki, “That cleaner is Suki’s stepdad, Kurt Garcia.”
Primrose and Sawyer’s pupils darkened as they heard the name. Suki continued to sit on the couch with her eyes looking stagnant while holding the glass. No one knew what she was thinking about as the corner of her eyes looked red.
Since Suki and Seth decided to get married, Primrose and Sawyer thought it was necessary to undergo a detailed investigation regarding Suki’s background and information. Primrose and Sawyer thought it was a safety precaution because Suki would be Seth’s lifelong partner, and they would not allow anything to go wrong. At first, Rowan disagreed with Seth marrying Suki. In fact, the entire Hector family was against their marriage. However, Seth insisted that Suki was the love of his life and he would not marry anyone else other than her.
Suki had a tragic childhood. Her real name was Yuna Garcia. She was born in an outskirt town. The identity of her father was unknown. Even Suki did not know who her father was. All she heard was the people in town saying that her father could be a traveler who came to the town for a vacation. Her father looked like a gentleman. He rented a small room with a family and stayed for three months. After he left, the daughter of the family was pregnant. That woman was Suki’s mother.
Suki’s mother was the town’s most beautiful girl. Every young male adult thought of marrying her, but once the news of her being pregnant out of wedlock went out, no one dared to propose. Her parent forced Suki’s mother to have an abortion, but she refused and insisted on delivering Suki. In order to give the child a father, and a wholesome family, Suki’s mother married a man from the town, which was Kurt Garcia, Suki’s stepdad.
Suki’s mother thought her happy life would start after the marriage, but it was the start of her nightmare instead. Kurt was a vulgar man with a bad temper. He pretended to be an honest and kind person, but he was actually a barbaric man.
Suki started to tell everyone her childhood story with reddened eyes “My mom died from drowning as she accidentally fell into the river. Since the first day she married Kurt, she had injuries on her body every day. She suffered from domestic violence as Kurt treated her like a sandbag. Even her leg was broken because of him. We tried to escape, but there was always someone from the town exposing us. Before we could escape, he would bring us back and give us a round of beating.”
“One day, I had enough of it and tried to fight Kurt with a knife, but I was not as powerful as he was. He punched me and wanted to kill me with the knife. My mom protected me with her body and got slashed multiple times…”
Her tears came strearning down her cheeks. “We called the police, but Kurt had friends in the station that always protected him. They ended up putting up a show by just lecturing him, and
that was it. Before my mom recovered from the injuries, he forced her to send fertilizer to the farm. As she pushed the cart with her legs limping, she fell down to the river together with the cart of fertilizer. That was the last time I saw her.”
Sage felt her body temperature dropping, and her eyes were teary. “Damn it!” She was so angry that she slammed the table with her hand.
Seth, who was standing behind her, pressed his hand on her shoulder to comfort her and patted her back lightly. Suki raised her head. At that moment, she looked like a fragile porcelain doll that was about to break apart. “When my mom passed away, I became his sandbag. Everything I got near to him, he would slap me a few times. One night, he got drunk and barged into my room and attempted to rape me.”
Everyone was stunned and terrified.
“I took out the ashtray that I hid under my pillow and smashed it on his head. Then I ran away. I keep running and running. I will push away anyone who tries to stop me. I ran all the way to the television station in the county and made a police report. Luckily the cops believed me and arrested my stepdad. However, everyone in the town scolded me and got no room for me because to them, I was an ungrateful child.”
