Sierra arrived at Jemima's office and knocked on the door.
"Come in." A warm voice came from inside, permitting Sierra to gently push the door open.
"Sierra, you're here." Smiling, Jemima waved her over.
Standing beside Jemima was a young man. His eyes lit up the moment he saw Sierra entering. It was as if fireworks danced in them.
"Ms. Anderson," Sierra greeted respectfully as she politely approached Jemima.
"You haven't met my requirements yet," Jemima teased, pretending to put on a stern face. "You can't call me 'Ms. Anderson' just yet."
Sierra's expression faltered slightly, and she hesitated. "Then… should I address you as my professor?"
Her nervous look—so pure and earnest—made the young man beside them smile involuntarily.
Jemima chuckled as well. "It's been three years, and you're still just as straightforward. You're still the same you."
Realizing that Jemima was only teasing, Sierra lowered her gaze slightly and smiled shyly.
"However," Jemima continued, shifting to a more serious tone, "I only said I would guide you. You still have to contribute your effort. Oh, I forgot to ask earlier. Have you been practicing at all for the past three years?"
When she heard Sierra playing the piano that day, she noticed that Sierra's flow was still smooth and natural, even though the technique was a bit rusty.
Pursing her lips together, Sierra nodded. "My piano is at a friend's house. I don't play regularly, but whenever I visit her, I'll play for a while."
The piano had always been an escape for her. Whenever she was overwhelmed, just playing a few notes could ease her mind, like the music could carry all her worries away.
"You're planning to return to piano seriously, then?"
A clear, steady voice rang out from the side.
