Watching Madison causing a commotion, Sierra struggled to keep up, so she didn't refuse Theo's help.
Once Madison was settled, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and looked at him with gratitude. "You should go to sleep first. I'll stay with her tonight."
Theo frowned and glanced at Madison. "She'll sleep better alone. And you've been drinking—I don't feel comfortable leaving you here."
Sierra hesitated, looking at Madison sprawled out on the bed like a starfish.
"Ah!"
Before she could decide where to sleep, her feet suddenly left the ground, and she let out a startled yelp.
Theo had scooped her up and carried her out of the guest room, casually shutting the door behind him. "Go wash up first. We'll talk about tonight later."
Sierra froze mid-struggle, then shrank into his embrace like a quiet, little quail.
As soon as he gently placed her on the bed, she bolted into the bathroom like a startled rabbit.
In her rush, she forgot to grab her pajamas. After finishing her shower, she hesitated for a long time before calling out, "Theo, are you there?"
Theo, who had been working on his laptop, heard her voice and looked puzzled. He got up and walked over to the bathroom door. "Sierra?"
She took a deep breath and expressed softly, "I forgot my pajamas."
He chuckled before he simply responded, "Wait there." Then, he headed to the walk-in closet.
After a whole day of shopping and a few drinks, she lightheaded from the warmth of the bathroom.
"Open the door." Theo's voice came from outside.
She cracked the door open just enough to slip an arm through.
His gaze flickered as he saw the slender, bare arm, and his ears turned slightly red.
The moment she got the clothes, she quickly pulled her arm back and shut the door again.
"Thanks."
Just as Theo was about to turn away, a soft voice came from inside.
