However, Sophie was pregnant, making it hard to fight off the urge. Eventually, she decided she would go downstairs and get something to eat.
The lights outside were all turned off, except for a particular door with some light seeping out of its crack.
She thought Liam was working at this time of night, so she tried to be as quiet as possible to avoid disturbing him.
"Take a look at these young ladies and tell me which one is more suitable for Benson." Janet's voice came out of the study. What she said made Sophie stop in her tracks.
"Benson and Sophie are married. Their babies are still in her belly, and you're already looking at the other ladies. That's way too early." Liam might have said those words, but his tone lacked a sliver of reproach.
"Come on, we'll make them divorce as soon as she delivers the baby. That leaves us several months to prepare for it." She sorted through the pictures, seemingly content with what she was seeing.
"I handpicked each of these ladies with great care. Not only are their family backgrounds wonderful, but their characters are impeccable as well. They are much better than Sophie and Sierra."
Sophie stood outside the door in shock. Her hands trembled as she rubbed her belly. Her look of disbelief was plain as day.
She was aware of Janet's dislike for her, but she and Benson were married. More importantly, they had a baby together. So, it didn't matter what Janet thought of her.
In the end, Janet would have to put up with it.
At least, that was what Sophie initially thought. It had never occurred to her that they would make Benson divorce her.
Janet and Liam were still talking to each other in the study. So, Sophie contained her anger, leaned against the wall, and continued to eavesdrop.
"The Ziegler family has some questionable disciplines." Liam sounded as warm as ever, but his words cut deep into Sophie's heart.
"The Zieglers own a successful business. If Benson could secure their support, it would do wonders for his career." Janet laid out her plans.
