Douglas watched Theo's retreating figure. His expression turned bitter as he swore that this would be the last time he helped Melody.
Both of them returned to the fishing zone one after another. They realized that Sierra and Melody were standing and facing each other, the tension between them a little thick.
Meanwhile, Daniel, Simon, and Yvette were observing the two of them calmly.
Douglas' heart clenched, and he hurriedly walked over to Melody. "Are you alright?"
He looked so earnest that Yvette couldn't help but roll her eyes. Then, she blatantly mocked, "We're not ruthless street thugs. If you're that concerned about her getting bullied, keep her with you at all times. Don't let her show up in front of us."
Simon tugged at Yvette a little, but he didn't stop her. Clearly, he didn't like how Douglas and Melody handled themselves either.
"I'm fine. I chatted with Ms. Shaw a little." Melody was baffled that Sierra was actually not as vulnerable as she appeared to be. Suppressing her dislike, she put on a warm smile and added, "But I think she has some misunderstandings about me."
She deliberately phrased her words in an ambiguous manner to mislead Theo and Douglas into seeing Sierra in the worst possible light.
Theo's eyes flickered. He walked over to Sierra, touched her cooling hand, and frowned. "Don't dunk your hand in the water."
Then, he casually cupped her hands to warm them before stuffing them in his pocket. Melody saw the whole thing and was stunned by how intimate their interaction was.
Theo had never shown any kindness to ladies, yet he had this tender side all along. The realization blew her mind. However, he had reserved his affection for someone else, not her.
She had never been on the receiving end of his kindness.
Melody's face paled, and she stared at the couple as if she wanted to prolong her suffering.
Douglas couldn't stand it anymore. Raising his hand, he covered her eyes and asked uneasily, "A-Are you feeling cold? Here. I'll take you back so that you can warm yourself a bit."
This time, Melody didn't turn down his offer. Instead, she turned and left with him.
Yvette guffawed when she heard it. After all, she didn't have that many opportunities to laugh at Theo's misfortune.
Sierra's eyes widened as she had never expected Daniel to twist her words this way. Waving her hands hurriedly, she responded, "That's not what I mean."
She calmed down a little when she saw Theo gazing at her with a light grin. Then, she explained solemnly, "That horse is the most stunning breed I have ever seen, but Theo has to be the most handsome man I've known in my life."
"You're quick-witted." Simon praised with a grin.
Daniel nodded. He looked at Theo, the intention to expose the man's feelings clear in his eyes. "How does it feel to have Sierra compliment you? Go ahead and smile if you want. Don't hold back."
Yvette nodded in agreement and whispered to Sierra, "To be honest, Theo is incredibly good-looking. The only drawback is his lack of human touch. Back when we were students, he was the most popular guy on campus."
"I am thrilled," Theo suddenly commented. His response made Sierra's face redden and left the others in shock.
