Yvette let out a mocking laugh. Then, she said in a voice devoid of warmth, "And how do you know Cee is perfectly fine? An accident happened at the same stables. Do you think she wouldn't be shaken at all?"
Douglas was momentarily speechless and glanced down at Melody.
"Ms. Shaw wasn't injured," Melody expressed softly, her tone carrying a quiet sense of grievance, as if she had been wronged but refused to say more.
Douglas' heart ached for her kindness. Unable to hold back, he took her hand. "You've been treated unfairly."
Dissatisfaction toward Sierra grew in his heart. He even suspected that she had deliberately stopped Theo from helping Melody. However, since Sierra wasn't here, he could only direct his frustration at Yvette, who was defending her. "Did you hear that? The only one hurt is Melody."
Yvette shot Melody a doubtful look. "Are you saying Theo and Cee intentionally left you behind despite knowing you were injured?"
Melody's eyes flickered slightly. She looked hurt but still tried to be strong. "I believe they didn't mean to."
"You always find excuses for others." Douglas sighed helplessly.
Tears welled up in Melody's eyes, but she forced a resilient smile.
"Alright, let's get her to the lounge first. We'll have a doctor check on her later," Daniel suggested, noticing how Douglas was staring at Melody with undisguised admiration.
As they walked into the indoor lounge of the stables, they spotted Sierra holding a cup of water and taking small sips. As they got closer, they noticed her hair was slightly disheveled, her complexion pale. However, aside from that, she showed no visible injuries.
Douglas frowned and was displeased. "Melody hurt her foot and couldn't walk. Why didn't you bring her out with you?"
Still shaken from the incident earlier, Sierra was caught off guard by his sudden accusation. She looked over in a daze, momentarily unable to process his words.
