Three hours later, the door to the emergency room finally opened. The doctor, looking exhausted, spoke with relief when he saw Vera and Xavier. "Luckily, the patient was brought in on time—his life was saved. But there will definitely be aftereffects from the stroke. You should prepare yourselves."

Vera had seen how terrified William looked when he collapsed. Hearing that he had pulled through eased her mind. As for the aftereffects... she couldn't bring herself to think about that just yet.

Xavier's eyes flickered as he glanced at his mother. Catching sight of the hospital bed being wheeled out, he quickly stepped forward to help.

After escorting the patient to the ward, he excused himself. He mentioned that he needed to go home and grab some toiletries.

When there was no response on the other end, he hesitated before adding, his voice slightly hoarse. "Let's meet."

After hanging up, he took a deep breath, glanced back at the hospital, and walked away.
