Catalina was furious.

“Haha... How daring of you to talk big when your capabilities are suppressed.”

The man laughed heartily, completely unafraid.

Even though he was a soul remnant, and his strength had diminished to a mere fraction of what it once was, dealing with people like her and Jared, whose powers had been suppressed and were no more than ordinary folks, it was a sure win for him.

“Drop dead!”

Suddenly, Catalina spread her palm open. The runes on it flashed brilliantly.

Immediately after, a streak of golden light shot toward the man.

The man was instantly taken aback and swiftly retreated. At the same time, the stone beast statues on both sides of the main hall abruptly began moving.

The golden beam struck a stone beast statue and surprisingly reflected off the numerous others, its power gradually fading away.

When Catalina saw that it had missed its target, her expression turned incredibly gloomy because she knew that it was her only chance.

The man then reappeared before Jared and Catalina, his gaze fixated on the latter, his eyes blazing with fury.

After the man had said that, he waved his hand lightly.

A surge of force hoisted Catalina off her feet, leaving her struggling for breath and feeling as if she was on the brink of death.

She desperately clutched at her jade pendant. Just as she was about to shatter the life-saving token, a glint suddenly whizzed over.

“Let go of her!”

Wielding Dragonslayer Sword, Jared struck out at the man with a powerful swing.

The terrifying sword intent somewhat startled him, and he promptly dropped his hold on Catalina.

Even Jared himself wasn't sure how he managed to unleash that sword intent with that strike.
