“Why do you want to leave?” Alyssa continued to ask curiously. “Aren’t you
high and mighty here, commanding and summoning as you see fit? Even the
Queen of the Dark Night Islands respects you. If I were you, I wouldn’t be so
foolish as to oppose the Airspace Group!”
Mackenzie scoffed, “Power and status aren’t things that bring true joy and
happiness.”
“So, what brings you happiness and joy?” Alyssa’s curiosity grew, her gaze
eager for an answer.
“Love, family, friendship…” Mackenzie replied in one breath. “And peace and
freedom!”
Alyssa looked at her with eyes reminiscent of how Emmanuel had once
fought to save Ironskull and Ostrich, even at the cost of being injured by her
and Alphonso. Then, suddenly, she sneered. “No wonder you and Emmanuel
are married; you’re both fools!”

Mackenzie laughed too. “Being overly shrewd doesn’t necessarily lead to
happiness! Don’t you think?”
As she spoke, she glanced at Alyssa and noticed the dagger in her hand.
“You’re right!”
Alyssa suddenly swung her hand, tossing the dagger towards Mackenzie’s
back. There, Agargar quickly slapped the dagger away.
“Alyssa, what are you doing?” Alphonso, who had been lurking on the fifth
floor, suddenly appeared, looking astonished. This wasn’t the plan he had
agreed upon with his sister.

The Shadow Clan, like the Blood Clan, were opportunistic double–dealers. The siblings had privately agreed that with the Alliance’s advantage, they would support the crowd from behind, cheering them on. If the Alliance lost hope,
they would pledge their loyalty to the Airspace Group, ensuring their survival
and possibly gaining status.

Chapter 1862 The Choice of Freedom
Many experts from the Dark Night Islands had previously risen to prominence
after joining the Airspace Group. With so many casualties this time, joining
the Airspace Group would certainly lead to high–level positions. They would
shift from being slaves to slave owners! But now, his sister was missing this
great opportunity to kill the Saintess and gain merit and instead fought
against the Airspace Group’s fighters. What was she thinking?!
“I’ve changed my mind, Alphonso!” Alyssa said, glaring at Agargar. “You and I
will hold off these experts and let the Saintess find the lab! We haven’t
experienced freedom yet; I want to see if freedom brings more happiness
than power and status!”
“You foolish woman!” He cursed but still smiled as he lifted his spiked club
and stood shoulder–to–shoulder with his sister in front of Agargar.
She also looked at him and smiled.
Alphonso grumbled, “I don’t know if freedom is as wonderful as you think, but
family is definitely more important to me than power and status!”

“Stop being sentimental! You’re giving me goosebumps! Let’s go!” Alyssa
shouted, charging with Alphonso toward Agargar.
Mackenzie was moved by the siblings‘ gesture, narrowly escaping death yet
again. But she knew it wasn’t the time for sentimentality. Cradling her belly,
she quickened her pace toward the lab.
Finally, there it was–Lab 19!
There was indeed a strange protective wall with odd remnants scattered on
