Chapter 1974
“I’ll fill you in on Eldoria when I return, Mackenzie,” Emmanuel called out, ready
to head off.
“Okay, hurry up then,” Mackenzie urged him on.
Marriage had really changed her. Once obsessed with her job, she now found
that nothing–no business deal, no paycheck–could compete with the
well–being of those she loved.
Meanwhile, at the Magnolia Theater.
Shane saw Gwain’s fierce attack and knew he couldn’t stop it. He shut his
eyes and yelled, “God, please help me! You’re my only hope!”
There was no way he could match Gwain’s strength, not even for a single
strike. Shane had never relied on his abilities anyway–luck had always been
his crutch.
Thud! Yet, someone jolted Gwain’s hand away at the very last second.

The crowd gasped, totally taken aback.

Hank and Wyatt were dumbfounded. They wondered, Did someone really just
strike first? How could they be more potent than Gwain?
They had been with Gwain for ages, and almost no one could stand up to
him. Yet, ever since returning from the Ancient Woods, more powerful fighters
constantly showed up. Not only were they challenging Gwain, but they were
also defeating him.
“Master!” Shane cried out, rushing over and throwing himself at Santiago,
tears streaming down his face. “I knew it! A good–looking guy like me with a
charming smile is always lucky! Boohoo, you actually came to rescue me!”
When Shane prayed, he wasn’t thinking of God–it was Santiago. Santiago
had always been his rock, like a guardian angel. Besides, Shane had come to
the Magnolia Theater looking for him, so it made sense that Santiago would
show up there,
Santiago gently pushed him away, saying, “Alright, that’s enough. You’re not

good–looking‘ or ‘charming,‘ so cut the act.”
Inwardly, Santiago sighed. If only Shane trained as hard as the others, I
wouldn’t have to keep bailing him out.
Just then, Roselynn called out, “Santiago!” She ran over with relief and
thought, Thank goodness I’m saved.
The politics of the martial arts world meant nothing to her–Southern
Lannister or Northern Wolf Warrior; it was all irrelevant. Southern Lannister
didn’t stand a chance if Northern Wolf Warrior couldn’t take on Santiago.
“Come here, Roselynn. You can lean on my shoulder and let it all out,”
Santiago comforted warmly.
He always treated Roselynn like a daughter, ensuring she knew she was safe
and cared for.
Still standing nearby, Shane couldn’t help but feel envious. Why does she
always get the special treatment? he wondered.

Yet Roselynn wasn’t about to start crying on anyone’s shoulder–that wasn’t
her style.
Hank and Wyatt circled around just then to join Gwain, surrounding Santiago
and his group.
Maintaining his pretentious front, Gwain stated, “Sir, Miss Roselynn is my
friend, and she’s coming with me. I’d appreciate it if you handed her over.”
Gwain seldom played it this cool unless he was cautious. Usually, he’d be
quick to attack.
Cutting through his pretense, Roselynn snapped, “Oh, please! You’re just a
phony! You forced me to learn that ridiculous martial arts technique!
Santiago, you have to defend me!”
Santiago, who had always been close to Emmanuel’s dad and considered
Roselynn a daughter since he had no kids of his own, was furious when he
heard someone mistreat her. “Is that so?” he growled. “Explain how you
thought you could bully a member of the Lowe Family.”
