Chapter 2002
“Who dared to do this? We cannot let this matter go unresolved.”
Catherine’s voice held a calm assurance, while Teddy, her husband, feigned
surprise, his face a mask of anger and agitation.
“Who knows? It could be the supporters of Ethan and Mason, or perhaps they
sent someone directly to assassinate me,” he replied, his tone laced with
concern.
She maintained her serene demeanor, her expression unwavering. “All three
of us candidates have to deliver speeches to garner votes. It would not be
unusual for someone to be targeted, would it?”
He quickly grasped her implication, nodding thoughtfully. “That is indeed the
case. However, your opponents are too despicable. As your husband, I must
retaliate; we cannot allow them to get away with this.”
Catherine smiled softly at him, her eyes sparkling with warmth. “Teddy, you
are truly good to me. It is such a blessing to be your wife in this lifetime.”

Meanwhile, in the mountainous region of Eldoria, at the former headquarters
of the Silver Fox Military, Emmanuel had been stationed there with his team
for two days. After leaving the Quill Residence, he ensured that everything
was in order in Eldoria before preparing for their upcoming journey to
Zovince.
“Commander, Santiago requests a secret video conference with you.” Sage
reported suddenly, breaking the silence of the room.
Emmanuel nodded in acknowledgment and followed Sage to a secured
room.
Before long, the display screen in the room illuminated, revealing the image

“Emmanuel, that tactic of leveraging strength against strength was quite
clever. Haha, you truly are a master of strategy,” Santiago exclaimed, a smile
gracing his lips as he regarded Emmanuel with admiration.
He praised him exuberantly. “The Silver Fox Military is an armed force funded
by Teddy through the Quill family. According to our investigations in the
Northern Region, he has established armed groups of varying sizes around
the world using this method.
“By offering these armed groups various privileges from behind the scenes,
he never anticipated that you would take on the banner of the Silver Fox
Military to dismantle the Quill family. Now, he finds himself suffering in silence,
possibly bringing upon himself a whole lot of trouble. Hahaha…”
Emmanuel merely smiled faintly, brushing aside the grandiosity of Santiago’s
words. “It is nothing extraordinary, really!
“Haha…” Santiago laughed heartily, the sound filling the room. “Though it seems simple, implementing such a strategy effectively in real combat and within a short timeframe is indeed very challenging. With the Wolf Warriors in

Not wanting Santiago to continue his boasting, Emmanuel promptly
redirected the conversation. “Commander Adkins, is there something specific
you need to discuss?”
“Indeed, there are a few matters to address. I believe we have already
covered the first one. I trust you will know better how to handle the Quill
family, so I won’t dwell on that,” Santiago replied, his tone shifting to a more
serious note. “The second matter concerns Catherine. She was attacked
during her speech yesterday. The news has already spread across the
nation, implicating Ethan and Mason. Though there is no solid evidence,
incidents like this can greatly affect an opponent’s support.”
Emmanuel nodded, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. On the world
stage, assassination attempts on candidates had become all too familiar.
With three candidates vying for the position of head of Chanaea, it would be
unusual not to encounter such occurrences.
“This is likely a self–directed incident by Catherine, or perhaps it was

smmanual furrowed his brow, contemplating the weight of Santiago’s
request, but ultimately nodded in agreement.
Santiago’s demeanor became exceptionally grave. “This national election pertains to the fate of Chancea and the well–being of countless citizens. The task you have been assigned is a top–secret national mission that must be
completed. Do you understand?”
1 understand,” Emmanuel replied with resolve, saluting Santiago, ready to
embrace the challenge ahead.
“Excellent. Very good,” Santiago exclaimed, a cheerful glint returning to his

eyes. “I am getting old, and many matters have become increasingly difficum
for me. I have long sought someone to take my place. Once the national
election concludes, I will pass on my position to you, and you will become the
highest–ranking general of Chanaea,”
Emmanuel offered little interest in the notion of ascending to such a lofty
position, letting out a resigned sigh. “I do not wish to take that on.”
“Why not?” Santiago pressed, clenching his fist in response, a hint of
frustration flickering across his features.
“We can discuss this later. For now, the nation’s affairs must come first.”
Emmanuel chose to refrain from elaborating further, understanding the
weight of responsibility that came with such a role.
He felt no desire to be bogged down by national matters while stationed in
the Northern Region. At that moment, all he truly wanted was the time and
space to protect his wife and children. He knew he could not expect
Mackenzie to abandon everything in the city to accompany him to the
Northern Region, so he needed to discuss this delicate situation with her.

“Very well, take your time to consider. After the national election, I hope to
receive a clear answer from you,” Santiago said, his tone shifting to a more
understanding note as he decided not to press the issue any further.
With the three matters discussed, the two men concluded their conversation,
each carrying their own thoughts and uncertainties as they prepared to face.
the challenges that lay ahead.
Emmanuel stepped outside, and Shane quickly approached, his movements
filled with eagerness and energy. “Are you feeling alright? Why did you let
Quintus take the lead in protecting Mackenzie? Aren’t you concerned he might get a little too close to your wife? You should have chosen someone
trustworthy, brave, and righteous for that role–someone like me.”
Emmanuel shot him a pointed glare, waiting for the little chubby man to
adopt a pouty, innocent expression. Only then did he reply, “Quintus is
someone I’ve known since my days in Yeringham. He might be a bit of a joker,
but he is undoubtedly someone I can rely on.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Quintus‘ laughter rang out from behind

them. “Haha! It’s no surprise you see me as your number–one rival in love.
You know me well!*
When Quintus reached Emmanuel, his demeanor shifted to one of
seriousness. “Don’t worry, I will protect Mackenzie with everything I’ve got. As
long as she’s around, I’ll be there too.”
Emmanuel gave his shoulder a reassuring pat, confidence radiating from him. “I believe in you. However, I sincerely hope you both remain safe. Here’s the map of the Western Region’s power distribution that I had Sage prepare, along with some vital notes. When you set off to meet Mackenzie, it’s best to
commit everything to memory.”
Quintus‘ face twisted into one of mock distress. He was skilled in combat but
was not known for his literary abilities.
However, the opportunity to take on this task was one he had always
dreamed of, so he gritted his teeth and promised, “Alright, I’ll remember. I can
keep it all in my head, can’t I?”
